Ventrilo HELP!!

I can't seem to get vent to work. I've removed and reinstalled, etc., and everything seems to work fine, but I get nothing from the headset.

I get to the server just fine, and I can see rooms starting with "The Lobby." I scroll down and see the BF Division, and I can even enter a room. I enter as "'C' Papa1960" (not sure what the "C" is for) but can't speak or hear anything. My setup follows the recommendations on the Ventrilo information page.

Any suggestions?

Does your mic have a volume control/mute thing somewhere along the wire that leads to your comp? If so, is your mic muted? This phenomenon is known as the IrishSaint Complex, and it is quite common, as two of our members have experienced it recently.

Also, the "C" by your name means that you're in the chat lobby of vent.

I can be slow, but not that slow! I must have doublechecked the headset 20 times in the past two weeks. However, almost right after I posted, I could hear others in the room. (First time I heard voices on vent -- "and there was much rejoicing.")

I'm not saying you're slow =). It's easy to overlook the simplest things.

If you still have the vent problems, try running it as administrator.

Did you check the bottom of vent to see if you have checked mute your keys or mute channel ?

Now I can hear everyone, but only one guy could hear me. (The two admins, of course, were the guys that couldn't.) One suggested turning up the outbound amplifier, which I did, but they still couldn't hear me.

Try reinstalling the whole thing once or run it as an administrator, there is also a key in the options to reset vent to its original settings.

Well now it works! I dunno what I did, but it's there.
