Display Driver Crash

I got my new computer, and i've been playing WoT since i got it. Every now and then textures turn black for half a second, or less. And the screen goes completely black, followed with this message "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

What information do you all need to help diagnose the problem and fix it?


PS. I put the computer together, it was my first time putting a computer together, so I'm willing to consider that i didn't plug something in right.

The error message you're getting is referring to the AMD video card driver that is installed. What you need to do is thoroughly uninstall your video card driver(s) and install the current up to date stable release driver for your specific video card and OS. For example: AMD video card model # / Windows 7 64 bit. Let me know if you are having trouble removing your video card driver(s). Be sure to use the uninstaller from AMD that should be on your start menu or use the programs and features option in the control panel to remove it.

If you continue to run into problems you have the option to download the Free Revo Uninstaller Software and use that to do a thorough uninstall including file folders and registry keys that get left behind by uninstallers. Make sure to use at your own risk though. Make sure to read everything you're trying to do when using that tool. For example you don't want to accidentally uninstall a similar AMD driver for another piece of hardware.
 
Seems to have fixed the problem, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for if it starts up again.
 
Sadly, it didn't fix it. It just did it to me again a few minutes ago..
 
Did you uninstall all of the AMD products like the Catalyst Control Center? Make sure all of the video card related drivers and software are uninstalled and then go through your operating system and delete any AMD folders that you know are pertaining to your video card software and delete those too. A lot of posts I see after doing some research is that players have gotten this error with a certain driver version. Each is specific to their cards so if you are truely using the latest driver for your video card I would try the previous version of that driver and see if that makes any difference. Sometimes new drivers have bugs. In the past I received blue screens with a new driver update and ended up just reinstalling the previous version and everything was great.

Recap: Uninstall all AMD video card drivers and software including file folders that get left behind. Restart your computer and install the driver version you'd like to try. Go with the latest driver and work your way backward until you find a stable driver.
 
Alright, i did that. It doesn't seem to be crashing any more. But the graphics still sometimes hic-up. Like it did before it would crash earlier.

It's crashing again, can someone please message me on steam or something? I'm getting really frustrated at this thing.
