Anyone interested in Mechwarrior Online?

I started online PC play with Mechwarrior 2 and have loved the franchise eversince. Now the franchise has been resurrected as a "free to play" online game coming out this fall.

Is there anyone else excited (or at least interested)? Team play will be a must. The developers promise a meta game where team performance will benefit the individual.

So far the game play looks fast, fun AND strategic.

Great to hear!

I did a lot of "League" play in Mechwarrior 4 and nothing was better than winning control of a planet (and nothing worse than losing one). Sounds like a similar league system is going to get setup...I hope eGO can get a unit up and running.

ill probly try it out, hopefully when they have stuff you can buy it wont be a pay to win.
 
Hey Foo! Long time no see dude! Seems we're both gonna play another great game together haha! I also started my gaming life with MechWarrior and I cant wait for that game to be released :D
 
Cerv is in the closed MWO beta now...I think I may buy my way into the closed Beta tomorrow.

Don't know when there will be an open Beta, or when the game will be released but I gotta think soon.

Heh, technically and according the NDA, we're not supposed to even tell people that we're in the beta... but I trust my fellow eGO members :P
 
I'm not saying I'm playing it, but I bet it plays well in beta, and it is a good mix of simulation and shooter, and that the combat is tough and rewarding with it being more of a slugfest then quick kill/boom headshot fest. I bet there's a good bit of team tactics involved too.

Anyone watch that show on G4 when they tried to make a game show with teams playing each other? That was awesome!
 
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries is also what got me into PC games. I was extremely let down by the latest incarnation of Mechwarrior on the Xbox. No first-person perspective-- come on! MWO looks awesome and if you haven't done so, sign up for the beta. You can buy in with some pretty good perks but I've heard from a few people that the wait time to get in on the beta w/o buying in isn't too bad. I need to play more but if you guys have beta access, let's play some time.

Oh and if you guys like the looks of MWO check out Hawken.

P.S. Remember the non-disclosure agreement-- so keep your mouths shut about some stuff... and unfortunately, no screenshots or videos.

The first mech type game I've ever played was call EarthSiege. I'm pretty sure it was released before the first mechwarrior game, but I could be wrong. And I played the crap out of it, and the second one when it was released.

I got my beta invite email after waiting for like, 3 months about 5 weeks after I bought into it :P

The NDA has been lifted I do believe. Also it is good. Still some bugs as it is still in closed beta so that is expected. I recomend it.
 
Another thing, I got Cerv to make us a Mech Warrior Online beta room inside of vent all the way down in the misc. gaming section. Lets see if we can get a few members down there to play and start some groups up and do a massive game with eGO members soon.

so i got the beta got in the game turned all the settings to low and still cant play it with out being like 3 seconds behind once u hit a button LOL
