GameMe Commands?

Hey fellas,

I've been getting in on some hardcore Donner action lately and find myself easily distracted by all the GameMe chat that takes up a majority of the text. The combination of the random GameMe text, point alerts, server messages, admin chat, private chat, and regular chat forces me to spend more time scrolling through text rather than immediately reading pertinent text.

I've seen several admins, members, and pubs voice similar complaints or questions about GameMe that go unanswered (not because of no admin response but because of a lack of knowledge). I (and others) would like to know:

How to completely disable some features or everything having to do with points, rank, or GameMe for good (not just for a current session). On a similar note, is it possible to remove !up and !down reputation notices?

I know that typing "gameme" in chat removes some junk but it seems that the next time I connect it's all back to "normal."

Since my recent return to Donner I have asked multiple admins with most responses being "I don't know" or "I don't think you can get rid of them." It would would greatly assist our pubs, members, and admins if knowledge of how to disable GameMe or other features was more easily available.

I think there is to much info going onto the screen, it is a distraction which to be honest I dont need. Could it be cut back a bit so we can play better.

I couldn't agree more. Hopefully when we find out a way to disable all the extra chat then we can give our pubs some much deserved answers.

On a similar subject; Ghost, I couldn't get those commands to work. Anyone know how to get rid of this junk?

I know that entering in regular chat:

gameme_display 0|1 Enable or disable displaying console events

gameme_chat 0|1 Enable or disable the displaying of global chat events (if enabled)


Removes a lot of it from gaming. But - it has to be typed EACH time you enter the server.


We're getting so many complaints from the pubbers, as well as our own. I hope they can fix this and find a way to give a permanent remove option.

Try adding those commands to your config file. That way it'll autoload the commands each time you enter the server.

I'd love to have a way for you guys to have the tools to control this, unfortunately, its a GameME thing. Moreover, we're not the only community that suffers from this. GameME is used by most, if not all, communities out there. They all run into the same issue.

Sorry guys. The only real solution we have right now is to add the commands given by Fluffy to your config file. Hope that helps.

But I don't want to see "so and so connected with blahblahblah points." Also, I hate the colored text. It is way more distracting then the old plain text.

Getting Rid of the Annoying GameMe Junk

I tried unsuccessfully to put these commands in my config as Silent Ghost originally recommended. I'm guessing this is because the commands have to be used in chat instead of console. Fluffy being the [genius] she is found out the commands Ghost provided us need to be used in regular chat. I decided to bind these commands to two keys. If anyone knows how to get these commands to automatically launch when you enter the server or some other way to make them work automatically please let us know. Bellow are two short tutorials on how to bind or type commands to get rid of the annoying GameMe text.

Getting rid of GameMe Console Text

1. Open up your console (~)
2. Type: bind "key" "say gameme_display 0"
3. Hit "Enter"
4. Your [key] is now bound


Get rid of GameMe Global Text

1. Open up your console (~)
2. Type: bind "key" "say gameme_chat 0"
3. Hit "Enter"
4. Your [key] is now bound

Note: Make sure the key you want to use is not already bound to something else. If you don't feel like making a bind you can type either command in regular chat.

=(eGO)= ST0RMY: gameme_chat 0

*MAJOR UPDATE*​

Spray (being the awesome council member he is) along with Spidey created a plugin to get rid of GameMe stats for good. The command below when entered in the console will remove anything and everything to do with GameMe for good-- that means not having to enter commands every time you join a server.

The new command is: gameme_vanish 1

You need to use the new comman in the console. Enable developer console in the advanced option, open console by pressing the (~), type or paste the command and submit it.

To remove GameMe stats and notices: gameme_vanish 1

To re-enable GameMe stats and notices: gameme_vanish 0

Since this is a console command it can be used in your config file and like I mentioned before, the command only needs to be typed and entered once!

I think I understood what you were talking about; the orange and lime-green colored gameMe notices. They used to be the same shade of green as admin-chat, but were changed to look different from admin-chat.
