[Realism Campaign 8] HQ/Discussion

I was doing some research last night and i found a lot of interesting things. This campaign is going to be very interesting.

Well, i had close to nothing to go off of when it came to predicting the outcome of the campaign. All i had were the 6 command staff. With myself being one, that narrows it down to 5. I know how Dutch is and how he handles things along with Meg as well. That leaves the entire Allied Command Staff

With Nuke's military background, I'm sure he could lead this whole thing quite efficiently. Not to mention that me and him share a characteristic that, when trying to succeed, almost completely prevents us from making stupid mistakes. Beef and Boyle also have some tricks up their sleeves.

Honestly i couldn't tell you how this campaign will turn out. I've only got 1/8 of the information. And even if i knew the teams and the maps we'd be playing on, most of the information to judge it all off of wouldn't even be known until each battle.

So my theory stays: This campaign will be quite interesting.

Actually, he looks like Kenneth More, playing Commander Colin Maud on Sword beach from the movie The Longest Day.

Points to Boyle for knowing which movie it is from, even though I do not look like that lol.

A few questions about the points and bidding process:
  1. If the attacking team doesn't out-bid the defending team, can the attackers still win the territory? If so, is the penalty for under-bidding on the attack just (a) not being able to choose role in a tiebreaker round and (b) losing 100% of the points if you lose ?
  2. Are the points allocated to each territory public, or only something the opponent discovers if they choose to attack a territory?
  3. What sort of reinforcements happen on the strategic map? Does each side get extra points between each round, or is it just an opportunity to move points around (with or without restrictions)?
I know the brass actually controls strategy, but us lowly privates like to know enough to ensure we can gossip and gripe accurately. :)

1. They can still win the territory. The only thing the attack bid changes is the winner of the bid gets to chose whether they want to attack or defend in the tie breaker round.

2. Only the team's command staff and TA's know how the points are distributed.

3. The CINC's can move points around to adjacent territories. There is a limit on points that can be moved per week from each territory.

Roster posted above on the 5th post. 2 days left until we kick this campaign into drive.

Just a heads up I know for sure I will not be able to make the Oct 6 match. I will be at a concert with my sister.

Make sure you private message your CinC here on the forums, to let them know you will not be there. That goes for everyone. If you know you will not be able to make it to a strategy meeting or a battle, let your CinC know ASAP.

Thanks for the info, Chuck.

PS - you poor Amis realize you're doomed, right? DOOMED, I tell you!

To clarify Chuck's post, not even command staff know how the other team's points are allocated, nor are the opposing team's map revealed until after bids are made. That would make bidding to easy. Of course, it is also more realistic. You rarely know the size of the force you are facing, especially with the more limited spy technology of the WW II era.

Oh, and there is a typo in your last sentence, you meant to say "Axis" are doomed, right?
