Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

So, if any of you guys know me still, you might happen to know that Metal Gear Solid is my absolute favorite video game series of all time. It appears that, today, Konami has announced a new Metal Gear Solid game using their new FOX Engine, called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

This is an upcoming, new, open-world Metal Gear Solid game.

"This announcement is a challenge from Kojima Productions to the world," said Hideo Kojima.

The footage showed off how the engine can handle weather (like rain) as well as clothing textures and lighting.

In the demo, Snake crawled to avoid some searchlights. After a quick stealth kill, he hopped in a jeep and called in a helicopter for evac. The concept behind Ground Zeroes is that this is a "Game without Game Over".

So even if a player is discovered in this stealth title, the game isn't about to end. Instead, it's just getting started. Here, it sounds like Kojima Productions is adding a new spin to the sneaking genre—a genre the developer is a master of—by making more of a game out of the escape itself and allowing players to do things like radio in for support. The demo seemed to indicate that Ground Zeroes wants players to do much more than simply run and hide.

The demo was running on a PC at current-gen specs, and its wow-factor seemed to impress those in attendance. It's also been designed with the Xbox 360 and PS3 in mind.

So it's a multi-platform game and it sounds totally awesome. Fun!

So I'm going to guess this will take place after Peace Walker, probably sometime in the 1980s. You know, to show exactly how MSF became a small base off the coast of Latin America to the fortress-country of Outer Heaven in the middle of Africa, and why they downgraded from Metal Gear ZEKE to the TX-55 Metal Gear, and Big Boss's return to FOXHOUND, and all that stuff.
