Hello everyone. I have a HAF912 case and I added case door fan exhaust and I've noticed it makes my room really warm.

I originally put it in to help out my 7970 because when in a game the 7970 fan kicks in and it's really loud.


I would like to know what I should do so I can keep that fan in there but reduce the heat that it blows into my room. Should I add some more fans or a fan controller? I would also like to make the computer as quite as possible.

I made a model of where my fans are. I have a Coolermaster Hyper 212 CPU cooler the fan intaking from the top of the tower.

switch door and top fans... door as intake and top should be exhaust

The fan there is on the Hyper 212 and is an intake for the CPU cooler so I can't actually flip them.
 
To answer your question for reducing heat is to have better cooling. The heat is obviously generated from your hardware which is then blown out of the exhaust and into your room. I for one think the setup is funky but that's my opinion. I would, like mentioned above, have the door fan pulling air into your case and the top fans blowing air out. I'm not visually looking at your CPU cooler to know fan positioning, or if it even has a fan on the heatsink. Also the rear of the case should have exhaust fan(s) if possible. If you're not going to change the fans as suggested, you could install the largest possible fan size in each fan spot on the case.

Here are the reasons for installing larger fans:
1. Larger fans pull more air and can be used at lower RPM to keep fan noise down.
2. If you need more air you can increase the fan speed gently to get more air flow.
 
You could also fix some wires if they are in the way of your intake/exhaust. Also if you were to increase the speed of the fan on your gpu the entire time even if it isn't experiencing a tasking load you would see that it doesn't get as hot... but there's always removing the stock gpu fans and installing a new one/putting some thermal paste on that.

Here's your problem, mister. That heatsink is facing the wrong way. If you wan to run it in bottom to top configuration, take the fan off and put it on on the other side, and make sure its facing the right way. It's inadvisable to try to run the air from top to bottom. Since warm air rises, its inefficient to try to make it do the opposite.

In general, I don't really like this case, since it has too much metal in the way of airflow, even without cables in the way.

You can flip the fan on the hyper 212 easy. remove the fan by depressing the clip the holds it onto the heat sync then unscrew the clip and put it on the other side. doneskie,

Alright, so let me see if I get you. I take the fan off the heatsink and put it on the other side, which would be very easy because the fan actually comes right off. So then I can just have the intake of that fan going to the bottom of the case. Move the door case fan to intake and put a larger exhaust fan on the top? What size would you recommend?

My case is very similar on the inside as you, and I also have the same cooler. My current setup goes as follows

With a fairly significant overclock it is running at only 3 degrees C above room temperature. Setup can be seen in signature. Though I will copy it here in the case someone needs this for future reference and my sig has changed.

So you are actually only exhausting in the back. How large is the fan on the top of the case?

I will move the heat sink to the same as yours, where can I find another fan for the hyper212?
 
All fans in my case are 120mm and also the hyper 212 has a bracket that came with it for you to mount any 120mm fan to it.
 
I always thought that running the top/back fans were designed to exhaust hot air? Not draw air in. Plus wouldn't you want that warm air out of your case anyway?

Anyway, to add to the topic, this is my current fan set up:

Cool air is drawn in through a front 120mm fan at the bottom, which I have added another 120mm fan just behind the HDD bays (lots of cables bundled there so this extra fan helps keep the air moving).

On the side of the case there is a HUGE 200mm fan, and out of shot blowing onto the back of the CPU is another 120mm fan.

At the moment CPU sits at 10 Celsius (!!) at idle, with about 30 Celsius under load .
GPU is normally between 32 Celsius (idle) to 76 ish Celsius while playing ArmA 2 and BF3.
Chipset has always sat about mid 20's regardless of whats going on.

Heat rises, so the top fan should always be the exhaust. Plus gravity probably cuts the CFM in half. Other than that it's spot on.

Actually having the top as exhaust especially in this case would take airflow away from the cpu so it is way better to have it intake especially considering it takes cold air in as it is right next to an AC vent. Not to mention the air flowing to it would be warm already anyways. The concept of heat rises makes since but many people don't fully understand it either. You are also cooling your CPU with warm air if you aren't bringing in an extra source of air for just the CPU. I've tried it arranged in both positions and this way runs 2 degrees cooler than having it exhaust.
