any tips on dod

If you want to try out a weapon that only has limited slots (Machine Gun, Rocket, Sniper) tell the game to put you on random class. You will end up as something different every time you spawn. It is important that you play all of the classes so that you can learn their limitations as well as their perks.

I don't recommend this to a total noob, as it can be disorienting. You are better off spending a week playing one class and then the next week playing another. But when the time comes to play something other than Rifle, Assault, or Support this will get you an opportunity to try them without pubs complaining that you are tying up a reserved slot.

If you do get a reserved slot don't let them bully you into giving it up because "so and so is better". If you have the slot it's yours. Just remember; other people want it too. Don't play it all night.

Rifle class is underrated. You get two grenades like support and when you right click you get iron sights (restricted view, better accuracy).

Assault is one of the most forgiving classes for a new player. The guns have almost no recoil (I never understood that) and you can fire them on the move. You can't do that as support or rifle if memory serves. Assault get one frag grenade and one smoke grenade. Throwing your smoke grenade is almost certain to annoy someone. Half the time the annoyed people are on your side. The best use I can think of for smoke is to obscure yourself from snipers when you cap. Someone should have a thread dedicated to the right and wrong way to use smoke.

who do i talk to about the random class that would be good

Random class is all the way over on the right. It says Random.
It just means you start as a different class each time you spawn.
If you don't like the class you get you can always pick up some dead guys weapon if you get there soon enough. I've know people who will hover around snipers to get their rifle. I don't recommend this.

"Hey buddy could you kill this sniper for me?"
"Now what did he have to kill me for? I asked him to kill the sniper."

Assault has its purpose, don't think that because it catches alot of, if not all the flack that only noobs use it, dont back down from using it when your team really needs those caps, also since these weapons (mp-40 and thompson) are a little more forgiving on recoil dont hesitate to put a few more rounds on the target area you may just get lucky.
However I find a lucky rocket strike always leaves an impression, happy hunting!

bind your medic key. Mine F and moved flash light to K you never need it. Q is my talk. Communication is key and listen to your team mates

So much this, I personally sometimes like to fire a few rockets blindly into usual attack routes. The feeling when that rocket hits a guy is amazing, to me and him too.

Hello,

Here is some advice on how to play the game to get better at it.

As a general rule, do not play safe. Do not feel hesitate to run out and kill enemies even if you think there may be many around. Do not hesitate to do risky moves in hopes of getting a few kills even if you think they will probably get you killed. Do not hide in corners and wait for the enemy to come at you, push up towards the enemy. DOD is a bit different from CS. In CS you only have one life so you need to be more careful, in DOD you can be as wreckless and as risky as you want to be because in a few seconds you will respawn again.

In the beginning it will be quite frustrating. You will die a lot. But as you keep on playing you will improve your game. DOD is a game that is meant to be played aggresively, not so much defensively. It is not about how little you die, it is about how much you can kill the enemy, because if you can kill the enemy a lot it will make it easier for the team to push forward to take the caps.

Yes, if you want to have a good looking KPD then it is better to play defensively and avoid taking risks. But if you want to be a better player who is more useful to the team and improve your skills in the game then it is better to be a bit wreckless and on the aggresive side if you can score more kills like that.

So I suggest to go full-manic in DOD, do not hold yourself back, be out in the open (if you are playing with rifle), and try to push the enemy back as much as possible. This is a pretty frustrasting approach, I agree, it is often a lot easier to sit back and play safely, but if your intention is in becoming a more valuable player then my advice is to use this sort of gaming style.

Also. One more tip. This depends on whether you are playing with rifle or auto. If you are playing with a rifle then you want to be out in the open. If you are playing with auto you want to be in closed areas. Rifle is strongest out in the open, NOT indoors or peeking through safe cooridors or corners, if you gonna rifle do it out in the open where you have good view of the enemy. With auto class you want to play indoors but you need to be on the move, push foward to the spawn of the enemy to hold them back so that your team can capture the main flags.

1. You respawn quickly - so does the enemy. Think about where you normally see enemy MGs set up. Most likely there will be an MG waiting in one of these spots, possibly two. You shouldn't be too careful if you want to make progress, but try to check these areas before recklessly running by. The same goes for sniper spots.

2. After some time familiarizing yourself with the game, try to get some melee kills. Like... a LOT of melee kills. This will teach you how to run around the enemy and not get hit as much. It will also teach you how to be sneaky. This is one of the best things I have done in order to learn when I'm likely to survive a situation or not.

Don't play to get a good score/rank, enjoy yourself with friends around you..

Play with your teammates. Move with a group of guys. One camper can kill a guy or two, but he can't kill a larger group. Another strategy I use effectively is to kill one or two guys, then reasses the situation and (camp) until your team helps to move you forward. Overall if you learn the map you know what to expect.
