September snuck in when I wasn't looking. Labor day is behind us and, if it ever cools off, The Summer of 2012 will be but a sweet (and sweaty) memory. The kids are off to football games, the marching bands are driving us crazy with their drums, and the practice, and the drums. Goodness, school is open. Now wake up! I said School is open. That means lots of small people who have yet to learn that sharing the roads with cars is a really bad idea. If you are driving it is your job to watch out for the small people. They are the gamers of tomorrow. Give them a break.

Meet the Leadership

For this edition of "Meet the Leadership" we delve into the mind of DaddyO.
DaddyO is a new advisor in the eGO community and proudly represents the newly formed Minecraft Division.

Q: I've got to ask, how did you come up with the name DaddyO?

Well, funny story. I started gaming as a kid, and my name for a long time was SomeonE. I played with that name up to about 5 years ago. I was working at an Internet cafe then, and I had my first kid. My boss, being a funny guy, started calling me "EH DaddyO". That's where my name has come from.

Q: What exactly got you interested in playing Minecraft in the first place?

Well I had been a person of many games. I started in CSS and was in the PSC division. When I joined the vent room I heard some of the guys talking about Minecraft and an old member, K1llJ0yz, got me involved with minecraft with single player. I got bored with that very quickly, so I decided to buy the game with the hope it would get better. One year later here we are.

Q: What are your plans to get the new Minecraft Division booming?

Well my plans are to get people more involved in the minecraft server. There are many new events happening even as we speak and leadership is talking about lots of new stuff that will be happening.

Q: How did you react to finding out you were going to be the Minecraft Division's Advisor?

Well its hard to say. When Ill Legend pulled me into the room he was explaining the whole merge before any other members knew, and talking about the leadership team that needed to be set up, I had a smile on my face.

Q: Can you please explain to us why the grass is greener on the other side?

I wouldn't say its more greener, I say its more dirty. With rank comes more responsibilities.

Q: If you could change one thing about eGO, anything, what would that be?

The mustoreo challenge for the leadership; it should be done with wasabi.

Q: What is your favorite thing to watch on TV on lazy summer days?

Walkin Dead, True Blood, Game of Thrones.

Q: What is the most random thing you have ever done, and why did you do it?

Well, it sounds kinda dumb, but I ran right into a pole with a bunch of friends, as a joke.

Q: Who would win in a fight: Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam?

Yosemite Sam of course, That guy is a hot!

Q: Finally, do you have any encouraging words for your fellow eGO members?

Live strong and fight hard. What you do with your life lives with you forever, so live life as its always your last minute.

The PSC division had an exciting month of September, with the promotion of a new Advisor, Tumblin. Congratulations to him. Also, the first "Recruiting Drawing" took place this month with some great prizes including free STEAM games. We successfully reached the monthly recruiting goal of 400 this month, with the Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike divisions leading the way. Last, but definitely not least, PSC Advisor Meades ate a mustoreo (and I think he liked it) to please his cohorts and create a simply humorous month, to say the least.

Battlefield

The month of September saw plenty of activity for the Battlefield Division. 'War Games' is one of the newest events and is sure to be a lot of fun. More information about this event can be found in Battlefield Division Discussion.

Battlefield released 'The Armored Kill Launch' recently. This release brings changes to the server line up. To see the full list of changes please see the Division Discussion.

Call of Duty

Call of Duty mods are coming. Is there one out there with your name on it? Some of them harken back to my days playing in the backyard with the neighborhood ruffians.

You've got your Capture the Flag mod. That was always a favorite with the scouts and the neighbor kids alike. Dynamic action and decisions; do I guard my flag or sneak over into enemy territory. How fast can I run? How fast can they run? What do you mean they have guns? Oh. So do I.

Then there is paintball. All of that mess and you never have to worry about dirty laundry or your breath steaming up your mask.

Want to cool off? Freeze Tag may be your thing. When you shoot an opponent they are frozen in place until a teammate thaws them out.

Remember sweetheart tag? You don't? Well I guess you're not old enough. There's one you won't find as a mod in CoD. Then again, some games are best played in real life.

Couner-Strike

The wait is finally over! The new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) launched on August 21, 2012. The game will be available for purchase via STEAM store for $15. The Counter-Strike (CS) series was first released in 2000 and is, arguably, the most popular first person shooter PC game on the market. CS:GO adds a variety of mods including search and destroy (plant/defuse), jail break, hostages, mini games, deathmatch, surf, bunny hop and many more. CS:GO is the fourth installment of the CS series, and the first since the release of Counter-Strike: Source in 2004.

Since the release of CS:GO, the CS:S division has added three servers: Office, Dust Rotation and Classic Casual. Make sure to keep your eyes open as more servers will be added. Recruiting numbers are expected to increase in the upcoming months due to the division supporting two games.

On another note, the CS:S servers are doing well with Dust2 ranked ninth in the world, Italy rose from 248 to 179, and most impressively, the High School server rank leap-frogged from 1375 up to 547; more than a 50 percent increase in less than a month.

Make sure to check out the new eGO CS:GO servers and keep supporting the CS:S servers.

Day of Defeat

The Day of Defeat division would like to inform all of their faithful players that the new server hardware that is already making such an improvement to Avalanche and Donner will be rolled out for Strand, Kalt, and Anzio. The eGO Avalanche server is the number 1 server in the world and Donner is number 17. Strand, Kalt and Anzio are number 13, 51 and 62, respectively. However, when the new boxes are put on line they will have new IP addresses which will mean that the current server ranking will be lost and we will need to bring them back from scratch. C-Whit is asking that everyone get in there and spread the word to fill our servers. We should be back on top in no time.

Donner: 67.228.175.243:27015
Are already at the new addresses and will not change.

Strand: 174.36.38.42:27015

Realism Number 8 began on September 8th and the battle lines have been drawn. Nuclear Cowboy will lead the Allies' 82nd Airborne Division charge against the Axis powers in the 5th Fallschirmj?ger Division, who are lead by MegsATagger. ShadowSmelts has transmitted the latest EVE developments. That was very kind of him as he was busy securing his ship for an incoming radiation storm. It seems that Dust 514 is being connected to a test server. Dust 514 is a Massive Multi-player Shooter set planet-side. The vehicles and weapons will be modifiable and there will be interaction with the EVE universe.

You can expect 24 vs. 24 combat. Victory can lead to control of districts on planets and the resources contained therein. Players will be able to customize their soldiers to their own desires. Anything from quick footed scouts to heavily armored snipers. Equip them as you see fit.

Dust 514 is currently found on a PS3 near you.

MatzWhat promises the construction of a police station and fire house and pledges to live up to his campaign promise of "no new taxes" (heard that one before). He comes to us from the UK and has recently earned his four year ribbon. You can usually find him on Ventrilo, and he has the pin to prove it.

Also of note is the newly added plug-in Auction House. Got something to sell? Need to buy something? Come on down. I've got fifty do I here fifty-five? Fifty-five, seventy-five, do I hear eighty? Going once, going twice, eighty. eighty-five. One hundred, going once, going twice, Sold American!

Operation: X

Hey you, yeah you, the one sitting in front of that computer monitor. You wanna be a hero? Yes, you can be a hero, all you need to do is play Dota 2, Valve’s free to play, self-described “Action Real Time Strategy”. However, obtaining a copy might not be so easy. Although free to play, players must sign up on STEAM to be on a waiting list for an invite. Of course, some of our ingenious members came up with alternative methods to get Dota 2. Many people are giving away keys for free at this link. Also, the OP:X Division is giving away free keys as prizes at some of its contests and events. See the OP:X Division Discussion and this thread. For all other players unable to obtain a key in these ways, the release date is nearing!


Dota 2 is a team-based game where you play as a hero of your choosing. Each hero possesses different attributes such as agility, strength and intelligence. Players may choose to be 'Leshrac the Lost Soul', 'The Enchantress', 'The LifeStealer', 'The Beastmaster', or any of nearly 100 “heros”. A list of Heroes can be found here. Players can help the team in reaching its objective by farming creeps (killing the weaker, base-created fighters to obtain gold) or by harassing or even defeating opposing heroes in the Lane to obtain gold to buy some of the hundreds of items to assist you in your quest to unseat your enemy. The forum thread above contains many guides and gives you all the information you need to become part of one of the newest additions to the OP:X Division.

The TF2 Division would like to announce the promotion of SnowCanary as TF2's new Admin Training Advisor.

The division recruited a staggering 105+ members into their lovely home last month. Leadership would like to congratulate everyone who took the time to recruit and help to expand the TF2 division; keep up the good work TF2 members!

The TF2 Olympics was hosted on August 5, 2012 and ran for a full week in celebration of the Summer 2012 Olympics held in London. The Olympic events included: archery, fencing, high jump, long jump, triple jump, dodgeball, boxing and many, many more. The top three winners of TF2's first Olympic games were: 1st place SnowCanary, 2nd place foopace, and third place VP-77.

At the end of July/beginning of August TF2 had an update to celebrate the Chinese New Year. With this update TF2 players can see an array of new items and there are hats to be found. The TF2 division is also looking forward to a new China Town themed King of the Hill map.

TF2 leadership is planning a special treat for the division at the end of September; a Global Tournament. The details are presently a closely held secret. However, you can expect this to be the biggest event TF2 has ever seen. More information should be available later in the month of September.
