Honestly we need to boycott the damn thing. (iPhone 5)

Since it's initial release, there has been more than 200 million iPhones sold at an average selling price of $622, the standard iPhone user purchases approx 3 accessories for their phone, so that leaves us with around 600 million purchased accessories/peripherals..

Yesterday Apple released their iPhone 5 which is a beautiful phone might I add, however regardless of how shiny and nice the new phone is it isn't enough to distract us away from the fact that they changed their adapter size. :mad:

As I mentioned earlier Apple has sold approx 200 million iPhones at an average of $622 each, that's $124,400,000,000 JUST FROM iPHONE SALES. It's disgusting that they are now using accessories as a money trap for us consumers. What the hell does apple expect us to do with our 600 MILLION accessories?!

Yes, they have their "adapter" but that isn't going to work with everything plus NO ONE wants to have to use adapters. If an iPhone 5 boycott shows up you can bet I'll be a part of it.

(P.S. not to mention the billions they just won in a settlement from Samsung)

To be fair, it's not Apple's fault that their consumers seem to have no self-control. I have no sympathy for people who complain about costs. Many have had every iPhone model upon release and spent hundreds on pointless accessories.

I'm still perfectly happy with my iPhone 4 with no accessories other than a case. I bought it a year after release and only had to pay $100.

I get what you're saying but if we're talking about fairness, Apple should at least provide the adapter at no cost as a show of appreciation to it's millions of dedicated customers that they just screwed over. :glare:
 
I agree, big money makers want to make even more money.
but won't give out a CENT.
They'd SNATCH your meal if they could just to save a few dollars.

I'll give you that one. The adapter is definitely something that should have been included. Reminds me of games that have DLC for sale at launch.

I Totally agree with u dude! Well I just recently switching the android, but yeah. lol before i switched to android, I had my iphone 4 for a while ever since it came out and I just had a case. I didn't waste my money on the other accessories.

Why would they do that??? Apple doesn't care about the consumers, they only care about money. Thats how big huge companies are, they only care about making the money and farming money from us.
 
Capitalism at its finest. If they keep making it and it keeps flying off the shelf, then why should they stop? Its not like they have a stranglehold on the market, there are plenty of equally matched phones out there for you to choose from.

People buy the iPhone on every release because, A) Their contract is up and it just so happens that Apple is releasing a new model, B) Build quality and because it is the only iOS phone on the market, and C) Because it's an Apple and they attribute it to being put into a special class of upper-echelon consumers. Other phone companies (Samsung, HTC, Nokia, etc.) also release phones that have incremental changes to them as well, it's just that Apple has one phone and they make it an event everytime they announce it.

How innovative do you want your phone to get? At this point, with the limit of available technology that we have, all smartphone releases will just be incremental changes. There isn't that much that they can add until there is another breakthrough in technology. That's one problem with consumers, once given the taste of something special, they want it all and then some right then.

This is all true, but my point is that it was a completely unnecessary change solely to make more money. A decision made by one of the richest corporations in the world. iPhone users should feel insulted.

I understand that the adapter change unnerved a lot of previous owners. However, it is an old adapter (9 years I think) and they have done just about all they can with it. They even said that it was not possible to make a thinner phone with the current adapter. At least they made an adapter that allows you to connect the new iPhone to your existing devices.

Maybe they should give it to you for free, maybe they shouldn't. Either way they have given you the ability to still use your existing peripherals and for just $29 that's not bad considering the price of a whole-new iHome, etc. Plus, you can guarantee that there will be plenty of third-party adapters to choose from that will cost less. Overall, the adapter change is not that big of a deal because they still give you options. It would be different if they said that this new iPhone will not work in any current peripherals regardless of adapter.
 
They changed the adapter because they updated their power/battery components which allow the new phone to be 20% lighter and 18% thinner. Boycott innovation, yeah let's do it.

Simple supply and demand. If people want to pay 600 dollars for it, then, by all means, Apple should charge that much. If they only sold it for $200 then the demand would be off the charts and supply would take a huge hit, thus causing the price to go up anyway.

So, whether you want to believe it or not, Apple is doing the right thing by charging those exuberant prices. Just because they're making unholy amounts of money off of a product doesn't mean you should boycott it. Hate the consumers, not the game.

Hmm, with of course the utmost respect to you, I believe you may have misunderstood my point, I've nothing against the price of the phone, my complaint is that I believe the change to the adapter to make more money is unreasonable.
 
I understand, but if you're going to buy the phone, then you need to buy the adapter. It's basically the same thing as purchasing gas for your vehicle with the exception of the lovely fact that it is a one time purchase (that would be amazing if you only had to buy gas once, right?). I know an Iphone isn't as "essential" as a vehicle, but I don't think charging extra for the charger is completely unreasonable at all from a business standpoint. It's better than buying batteries for it.

Just my opinion.

I'm all for improvements, but Apple is passing on the costs of the change to the customers while making a profit. Those adapters are probably being manufactured for pennies. It's not unreasonable to expect them to be packaged in with your phone.

When I upgraded my PC's graphics card, it came with both DVI to VGA and mini-HDMI to HDMI adapters. I would've been annoyed if I had to go out and buy them seperately.
