Mercer's PC is in bad shape, man...

So over the last two weeks I've got this:
BSOD!!!
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

***STOP: 0x00000d1(0x0000000,0x0000006,0x0000008,0x0000000)

I thought my video card was cookies so I bought a new one but it still happens...

And it seems to happen the most when I use media player or vlc player to watrch a movie. I have no problems with games.

My paging file is 1500MB because I have 1GB Ram...


I just don't know what the heck is going on...

Any tips or advice would be most welcome...

I also should have said:
AMD 3000+ 2GHz
1 GB Ram
110 GB HDD
GeForce 7600 GS 256MB
XP Home SP2

I also checked for updates for all the relevant drivers...

update drivers and make sure you ram isn't shot
looks mem error not quite sure but good thing there is a prog to test mem

one more thing if the vid is MKV or and any HD vids, that will cause it too.
I know my old system a P4 3.0 GHz couldn't play but my current machine can

I recently dl'd some HDTV shows and to be honest my comp's been screwy ever since.
I DID mention that it happens most when playing video. But not every time has been while playing a HD video...
I will do a mem test on the ram just to be sure..

That tells you what the problem is right there. If you have installed any new software that interacts with your video or sound hardware or provides emulation of virtual devices try doing one of the following:

1.) Restore windows to a point before you installed the software.

2.) Uninstall the software.

3.) Find a newer version of the software.

indeed when all else fails do a system restore

and for future reference scan things you download with your virus scanner before you install...some video drivers out there are just cleverly disguised viruses.
