This topic was brought up in another thread and I'd like to hear the feedback
smoke nades can be a life saver or complete obstruction so whats the best way to use them and not tick off everyone on your team

Guess pretty good example is Donner's mid flag. With a good smoke you blind enemy snipers and usually their rushing in general, with a horrible smoke(i'm good with these), you blind all your teammates, cause rage and be executed for treason.

I think mostly a good smoke is far closer to the enemy than it is of you, then it covers more of the enemy's area of sight, and usually a good practice is to nade the friendly smoke with HE-ones too, to cause casualties and suppressive effect to the enemy.

Although I dont use them often I find the fact that they distract everybody around me to great advantage.
To place a smoke grendade that looks like it might cover an mg or sniper settting up or flag cap and then ambush anyone who intrudes works great for me. Choas leads to oppurtunity.
Meanwhile I p off my snipers etc with placement of smoke that block shots from critical windows etc.

A time to use smoke is when it covers more of their field of vision than ours. For example, if you throw a smoke nade on Donner too close to the allies side as an allied, you block of more of your vision than theirs, and plus after running through the smoke snipers can still pick you off as your run.

Another bad time to smoke is if you are in control of an area, this will allow advances by the enemy and will blind your snipers and mgs to their movements. Donner is a map where this happens quite frequently.

I agree with Jinn. I really dislike smoke on Kalt or any small maps like such. It's more effective on maps like strand and donner where snipers are more at an advantage. But most of the time when I'm playing, people misuse the smoke and drop it in front of their teammates who are trying to cover an area.
