Steam Hijacked

So I got an email this morning saying my contact info has changed. I saw steam logged out and I cant login with my password. So I assume my account has been hijacked (how I have no clue). Has anyone else been through this? They are asking for a cd key or original billing credit card, but I set this up 10 years ago.

I had the same thing happen to me about 3 years ago. They asked for the account name and a CD key (if you used a retail disc). I also keep backups of all my steam purchases in case I need overwhelming evidence to prove it's my account.
If you have a game disc that you used at one point, just take a picture of the CD key as well as your account name.

Should of set up the steam guard. That thing stops everyone unless you lose your email.

I never heard of Steam Guard till right now. This sucks. I want to play some DoD. Any idea how long they are supposed to take in getting back to me. Why would someone hijack the account anyway? Its not like they can make money with it

I had this happen to me a while back, I was able to send a pic of a key from the orange box (I think) and it was fixed in about 24-36 hours.

And, what I dont get is how it happened. My steam auto logs when i start it up so I never put in my password. I KNOW I didnt get phished out of it because I am not that dumb

Probably just an easy(ish) password to guess/dictionary attack.

It can be about a week waiting period. You can force an account password, which is why you should keep passwords different for everything (annoying but helpful). If they hack accounts a lot of times their install hacks and then once the account is VAC banned move on. In your ticket to Steam Support include as much info as possible just in case.

I had someone try to get into my account earlier last month. It could be someone either broke threw the data base, keylogger, or all you're passwords are the same and they just found your user name and done that.

That's why I rotate between 3 account names and about 7 different passwords.

Yes it happened to me a few months ago, Steam got my account back but I lost bf bad company as they took my log in number, Hope yo get yours back ok.

Just got the email that they reset my account. Time to find out what damage was done
