Sooooo freaking mad right now...

Did my preload, patiently waited for midnight, noticed an odd "1 item paused" at the bottom, but nothing in the Download list. Restarted Steam to be safe, still the same thing.

Click "Play" on Borderlands 2, aaaaand?

"Disk IO failure."

Verify integrity? It's 100% fine! Restart Steam, restart computer, nada. So I take the next logical step; rename the BL2 folder, delete local files, exit Steam, rename folder back and reinstall.

But OH WAIT!!! Yay for new Steam features! It had downloaded everything to some new Downloads folder, and wiped it all out when I uninstalled. That folder I renamed had nothing but a 2kb .vcf file in it.

So now I go from playing at midnight to MAYBE getting to play tomorrow night if I'm lucky.

So if you get this error, good luck. Maybe you'll have more luck than me, but it's a massive widescale problem (just one of the dozens of threads is up to page 7 within 40 minutes) and nobody has a solution besides "redownload from scratch and cross your fingers it doesn't happen a second time."

well i have to wait still 2day 14hours to get even playing BL2 :(

Never understood why the governments impose this on some games and not others.

Finally got it working after a third reinstall, but now it insists on reinstalling my .Net framework every time I start it up.

It's worth the wait!
