Sweaters, boots with the furs, jackets, scarfs, all these items mean one thing: FALL! Yes, with Summer fully behind us we can look forward to what Fall will bring us this year. And I for one am giddy with joy because this is one of my favorite seasons of the four.

Can you also believe that in less than three months 2012 will be just a memory? Its crazy to think that just yesterday we were counting down the seconds to the year 2012 and will soon be counting down the seconds to 2013! I for sure wasn't ready for the year to end this quickly.

And finally, lets not forget about our home away from home, eGO. Remember to log into the forum at least once a week to keep your MAUL updated; wouldn't want anyone coming back and seeing their rank set to inactive. And you should just log on in general because a little procrastination never hurt anyone....believe me, I do it on a daily basis.

Oh Fall, what joys will you bring to us this year?

Media Team

The media team is making a comeback. We are keeping it low key to start, with only one or two projects. We are also updating our membership lists. If you are currently a member and wish to get involved again please post in the October Roll Call thread in the media team main forum. If you are interested in becoming a member please PM Dead Tom or Quaffer. We are asking people to be willing to make a commitment to seeing their projects through.

This months newsletter was edited by lins , RapTure, and wewo. The art this month comes from TriPPey. Please thank them for their efforts.

If you have an interest in working on the newsletter please pm Quaffer. We prefer applicants who hold at least the rank of eG, have graduated from high school, and have a flair for the written word. We have openings for both reporters and editors.

We here at EdgeGamers Organization would like to thank the kind people at MaxFrag.net for providing us with our #1 ranked, 400 slot Ventrilo server. For everyone interested in finding out more about them, visit their site at this link: http://tinyurl.com/4yqoyq8

For this months edition of "Meet the Leadership" we will look behind the beard of the one known as Chuck Norris.

Recently promoted to Advisor, Chuck Norris helps to oversee the continuing growth of the oldest eGO division, Day of Defeat (DOD).

1. Now that you're an Advisor, has the pressure gotten to you or are you handling the responsibility with ease?

There was some pressure at first because I got promoted at about the same time we got the new server IP's. I don't feel as much pressure now that our servers are going back to their previous ranks.

2. What has kept you so long in the DOD division for so many years without deciding to switch to a new one?

The people. We have a lot of great members who hang out in Ventrilo every day.

3. Having been in the DOD division for as long as you have, what are some of your fondest memories?

Probably one of my best memories is being the Commander-in-Chief for Realism Campaign 7. There are a lot of great memories coming from realism.

4. Do you have a particular server that you frequent the majority of the time when you enter the eGO DOD servers?

My favorite map is Donner. I played on that map since I started playing DoD in 2007. Recently though I've been playing more Anzio and Kalt to try to get them full.

5. I like the name, Chuck Norris, but I have to know, did the real Chuck Norris let you use his name?

I am the real Chuck Norris.

6. What is a better communication website to stay in touch with friends and family: Facebook, Twitter or Google+? Why?

I haven't used any of these in the past couple of months so I really don't know.

7. If you could have one super power, what would it be, why and what would you use it for?

Time travel to have verrrrrrrrrrry long weekends.

8. Halloween is upon us, will you be dressing up this year? If so, what are you gonna be going as?

So far I don't have any plans, but it would be awesome if I could find a way to dress up as a fist.

9. If Stallone and Schwarzenegger were to have a staring contest while arm wrestling, who would end up winning?

Not sure who would be better at the arm wrestling part, but Stallone would win it with the staring contest.

10. Anything you would like the DOD division to know or would like to say more to your fellow eGO members?

PLAY DOD!

After perusing the forums and Vent rooms, there always seems to be a common and lingering comment or question, “How do I get my G?”

This question pops up so much; sometimes promoted members fluff it off, or are reluctant to give an enthusiastic answer. There is no need to get down on yourself, but it takes more than just asking for it to receive the honor, you need to act.

On a personal note, I was a member of eGO for over a year before I was ever even considered for a G promotion. Sure, at times it was a little unsettling, and disappointing, but I stuck with it. There was actually a time where I was going to retire my =(e)= tag because I thought the search was helpless. That’s when I was taken under the wing of Italy’s most wanted, Imak. He was only a member for a few months, but moved up the ranks so quick, and everyone seemed to like him.

“How’d he do it?!” I’d always ask myself, not realizing I can just ask him and get the desired information without racking my brain.

That gets me to my point. There are so many ways to accomplish the acquisition of the coveted “G” and a lot of us aren't, or weren't doing it. The best and easiest thing to do is become active. Not only active in a gaming server, but in Vent and on the forums. How do you expect to be recognized for a promotion if members don’t even recognize you? Secondly, get a mentor. Become friends with an active G or O. These guys and gals can tell you exactly what they did to receive their promotions. Thirdly, and I can not stress this enough, it’s all about attitude. Are you active in keeping the servers punk free? Do you have a decent sense of humor and can joke around with people? These are fantastic character traits that will get you noticed. The last bit of advice I can give you isn't really advice, rather, a suggestion. Think outside the box. Do something to help out fellow members or improve the forum or Vent rooms in some way. I can’t tell you what to do because it hasn't been done yet, but be creative!

Offensive Combat is a free to play browser-based first-person shooter. Like most shooters there are multiple game modes, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag being the most popular. It is also similar to many other free to play games in that you can buy items in the game with in-game credits or real money. However, the similarities end there.

Offensive in this case is not an antonym of defensive, it is a synonym of insulting. You will notice this game's satirical tone from the second you start the game. It takes shots at almost every popular FPS out right now. Weapons such as the “Ferret M82” sniper rifle (a shot at the Barrett M82 made popular by CoD) or the “Beagle” (Desert Eagle) are just a few of the examples.

The only requirement to play this game is Unity Web Player (about a 5 minute install depending on your internet connection). Here is a YouTube video of my very own [ame="http://youtu.be/M4FWz3TKvdo"]Gameplay[/ame]. It handles a lot like Call of Duty and the gameplay is fast-paced, fun, silly action.

I would definitely say it is a for sure play. Considering it is free and can be played from within your browser there is no reason not to give this game a shot. So go out there, shoot some robots (or men dressed as bananas), and have fun.

Play Offensive Combat here.

The Personnel Service Center (PSC) thanks UmaTora and Cable, who have stepped down as PSC Advisors, for their service. Assuming the duties of these two great members, are CopperAle and Calintz. The PSC extends a warm welcome and a congratulations to them both.

The PSC has successfully reached the monthly recruiting goal of 400 for September with the Counter-Strike division snatching the lead for monthly recruits. A special thanks to all the dedicated recruiters who put in the effort needed to reach this goal.

Attention PSC members! The PSC has recently completed a purging of inactive members. Any member who was removed from the PSC roster and wishes to be restored should contact an Advisor. Also, the PSC is working on plans for upcoming events that will focus on the newer members of the eGO community. Keep a close eye on the News Center for more information.

And now, drum roll please... The Recruiter of the Month for September is Cronus06!

* Thanks to CopperAle, Blindy and the PSC Advisors for their aid in the preparation of this article.

We are revamping all of our BF3 servers. Unfortunately, due to the lack of popularity, the six month prepaid donated server is not being picked up by eGO and is being dropped, leaving eGO with 3 BF3 servers. Those three servers are all being overhauled with new server settings based on member input. Your assistance in making these new server configurations successful is greatly appreciated.

Leftenent, the BF Division Council member, has decided to step down from his position due to his busy school schedule. We wish him the best with real life and thank him for his dedication to the division. We also hope to see him in-game when he has free time.

Finally, based on popular demand, we will be bringing back tournaments that we did monthly back before Battlefield 3 launched. The sign up thread should be up soon on the front page.

I found them in Vent. The air smelled of two day old sweat, dried blood and gun oil. They were field stripping their personal weapons and phalanx was calmly putting a clean edge on a knife. Snick, snick.

"Hi what's new?" Ever gotten one of those looks? You know the one I mean. Where your sweat turns cold and runs down the back of your shirt and you just want to be gone; anywhere else at all, gone.

"We're waiting."

Oh, I might survive this. Death is in this room but it's not my death. Maybe. "Um, what for?"

"Black Ops 2 is coming, November 13th."

"Oh, so that's what your preparing for?"

"No."

"Um, well what's all this for then?"

"Call of Duty has a Competition team. We're getting ready for that. We have to stay sharp... while we wait. Care to join us?"

"Yeah, I really would but I've got this deadline..."

"Ok Quaff. See you."

Snick, snick.

I may never complain about a deadline again.

Fifteen dollars... what new games can you buy with this? If you think about it, certainly not much with the exception of map packs, some hats, a few characters, or some add-ons. However, with those $15 you can get a copy of Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) or tack on another 15 bucks and you'll own all the Counter Strike (CS) games released within the past 12 years. The former is certainly not a bad of a deal for a game that is laready popular, is well designed, and is only a month old. Get your copy of CS:GO today (link below).

The CS division has added four different servers well fitted for all playing styles. Competitive players may want to give Dust 2 or Office a shot, or if you prefer variety, give the rotation server a try. Last, but not least, the ever popular jail server which fits anyone's personality, whether you are trigger happy, rebellious, sneaky, talkative, quiet, or laid back. With the able assistance of various mappers and leadership, we were able to move some popular maps from Counter Strike: Source (CS:S) over to CS:GO. Just to tease readers a bit, some popular jail maps include Canyon, Cryptic Fortress, Grand Marble, and a lot more. With all this said, make sure you launch CS:GO and help fill the servers.

The CS division gave away a free copy of the newly released game Borderlands 2 in a recruiting contest. We would like to thank SkylineGTR for taking time to host the contest and donating the game. It was a close race with RedEyeZ getting his 25th recruit at 7:19 p.m. (PST) and winning the prize, afterward, XavierB came in at second place at 7:35 p.m. (PST). Thank you to all those who participated in the event. The CS division was able to tack on another 70 recruits for CS:GO in less than a week. Great job everyone.

Make sure to supporting eGO's CS servers by helping to keep them populated. The Dust2 server, sitting at 6th overall throughout the world, deserves special mention.

By SkylineGTR,

The Day of Defeat Division would like to thank Greenlight Terror for all his hard work and dedication as Advisor. We will miss him. Thanks goes out to Chuck Norris and Skippy for stepping up with their promotions to Advisor and to Annihilator on his promotion to Division Leader. We are confident they will continue to do their very best for the eGO DOD Division.

The Division is working hard on new events. Here is a list of a few to look forward to:
  • Realism Campaign 8 - a 6 week long reenactment event. Sign up in Division Discussion.
  • Assassination Game - a new event hosted by BG(Warrior). (Event ended).
  • Halloween Scrim Tournament (Oct 26-28) - teams battle each other competitive style, hosted by Boyle
  • Chuck Norris' Roundhouse kick to the Servers - get points and win prizes for killing the individuals selected by the Rangers

Be sure to look for regularly scheduled DOD events held every night of the week.

As you may have noticed DOD had some server changes. All servers changed their hosting boxesand 3 servers changed IPs:
Anzio (174.36.38.44:27015)
Strand (174.36.38.42:27015)
Kalt (174.36.38.43:27015)

Finally, the DOD division would like to tell you about these updates:
  • BIGBAS has recently accepted the job of Admin Trainer.
  • DOD roll-call in the Division Discussion forum. Leadership asks ALL members to read over the roll-call thread.
  • Recruitment Drives will be starting and leadership would love it if everyone can attend them, whether you know how to recruit or not.
I would like to thank DOD Advisor, Blue Stealth, for taking the time to contribute the information above.

EVE players are looking forward to getting some Retribution!

New in Retribution are improved mining frigates. They are both more efficient and with larger capacities. Selections for small craft combat systems have been expanded. Also, frigate systems have been updated to offer more options for specialization.

Retribution features CrimeWatch. EVE let's you build or pillage, develop, trade or plunder. CrimeWatch helps you discover the choices that a pilot has made.

So you've used CrimeWatch and discovered just what a rotter the guy next door is. What to do? What to do? Try your hand at Bounty Hunting. The law can't be everywhere but you can bring the hurt to miscreants in your own neighborhood.

Retribution; coming soon to a quadrant near you.

The Minecraft division would like to congratulate Russo on his promotion to Advisor as he helps to further the growth of the Creative Team. With Russo in place, the Creative Team is now in full swing as members work together to create new large and exciting projects. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to join regardless of your creative prowess.

Minecraft leadership would also like to announce that events will be held nightly and would like to encourage everyone to come and "show us what you're made of".

Other important Division news:
  • New awards are being created by Leadership
  • Oey192 - accepted job as Admin Trainer
  • Sashifrog - accepted job as Admin Trainer

With all these changes coming up, it's no doubt the Minecraft division will continue to prosper in the eGO community.

I would like to thank the Minecraft Advisor, DaddyO, for taking the time to contribute the information above.

As the mist clears you begin to make out the faint outline of an island in the distance. As you draw closer you begin to see more and more detail, majestic mountains and tall buildings, a whole new world. You draw closer and closer to the island when all of a sudden you hear yells from the port side of the ship, your excitement at the discovery of a whole new world fades into rage as you realize your arch enemies have arrived at the same time. Who then will win the allegiance of this new country and race? It’s fate lies in your hands.

“Mists of Pandaria” was released on Sept. 25th and is the much anticipated expansion the game World of Warcraft (WoW). The WoW players of Operation:X (Op:X) division are already hard at work creating an eGO presence in the new expansion. The expansion itself adds an all new class, the monk; a new race, the Pandarens; and a whole new country to explore.

The Op:X division is celebrating the launch of this game by having hosting a WoW recruiting contest. If you aren’t a current WoW player but have ever been interested in playing, or are a current player but not part of the eGO WoW community, be sure to contact an Op:X WoW recruiter.

For more information on the recruitment drive see here.

If you are in the Steam community for more than five years and are addicted to TF2, you may be eligible for the Titan of TF2 award. Any eGO member can obtain the Titan of TF2 award by having a maul verified steam account that is more than five years old and at least 1000 hours on TF2. Not many members have earned the award and I have a feeling the 1000 hour requirement is not the problem.

TF2 members have a challenge on their hands. Wilson!! has promised a new TF2 server if, and only if, the rankings of the six current TF2 servers are either maintained or raised to acceptable limits. The servers with their present ranking (updated by Wilson!!) with the target ranking are set forth here. As of October 2, 2012 four of the six servers are above the target goal. Of course everyone knows how to raise the rankings on servers; play and recruit. The reward will be worth the effort.
