Steam Lag Problems

[WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA!!!]

This problem has just popped up for me in the last week or so. In all of my steam games (TF2, CS:S, DoD:S, LFD2) I'm getting unbelievable lag spikes. Is anyone aware of a new issue with Steam, and does anyone know if there are any solutions I can try? It would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like an issue with Steam Cloud. Try disabling it to see if it resolves your lag issues.

To disable, to go Steam -> Settings -> Downloads and Cloud

And uncheck the box 'Enable steam cloud sync...'

I would do a back up of the steam games and reinstall steam then copy all of them back in the folder. Could be also that it's fragmented, try running a defrag program like Defraggler or use Game Booster to locate the folder and defrag it individually and not the whole hard drive, unless its really bad like 20% defragged.

But try FPS's suggestion first.

I tried disconnecting the steam cloud - no problems so far!
