DISCUSSION: Jail needs fixing!

What I have also noticed is that a lot of people are complaining about "free-killing" however, they haven't mentioned that most of the time its your own fault for being, what you called, "free-killed."

Now I know sometimes you get that one new player who just comes on and free-killes because they do not know the rules, but 80% of the time (if not more) people complain about a "free-kill" that could have been avoided had they listened to the orders instead of whatever reason they didn't hear. And before you say you 'listened to the orders' think about it, did you really? I have had players in the server say they listened to the orders, and when they repeat them to me, they repeat the same line they think ALL wardens give: "shift walk backwards out of your cell knifing distance." Then I have to tell them that wasn't even close.

TL;DR - Most free-killing isn't due to actual trigger happy CTs (not saying this doesn't happen occasionally), but because a lot of the Ts had decided not to listen and followed the wrong orders or orders they "believed" they had heard.

Also, if you see a T running away from a group don't follow. That also seems to warrant a "hey he free-killed me" when you obviously were following a T you should not have.

As for your post Rogue, you've given many examples to what people dislike in the server and some maybe possible solutions but can you give some ways to ACTUALLY make CT's more creative when wardening?

Thanks, XavierB.

The answer in my essay to how to fix Jail is...

THE PLAYERS

and...

ONLY THE PLAYERS

But you cannot fix the players, you can only shape them through rules even then you can only do so much.

Also, 42.

Everyone keeps looking for rules, maps, mods to help fix Jail... NONE of those are the cause of Jail not being fun. The players are the only thing you can change that will permanently improve Jail if they're willing to change.

Pretty much all true and the players are a big problem nowadays. But I'm just trying to get people thinking about ways to fix little things that tick them off. If the players won't change, lets try and change something =/. Because we can't really leave Jail the way it is now, cause I'm not a fan of it atm.

This is the cancer killing jail.
You see, the thing is, griefing is a problem that causes CT's to not be able to hoswt fun games for the T's to play. Lets take death run for example: on maps like Leoben, if you say all T's please go to deathrun B, they go and one T jumps in to the CT platform sets off all the buttons. Now all of death run is completely ruined for anyone who actually wanted t play it. That is one less game the CT's now have to play until next round.

I suggested ways to fix the CT's thus maybe helping fix jail a little. If you'd like me to reiterate them, I'd be happy to.

This can be solved if the CT's learn to position themselves before hand. It takes very little effort and preparation to send a CT in first. Heck, send two. Whatever floats your proverbial boat.

One of the things ruining jail is the absolute NEED for some people to bait on CT. Why not just HAND them an M4 and LET them kill everyone? I understand we want to let everyone have a fair go at CT, but sometimes, we need to come down hard. I've seen time and time again that CTs aren't regarding baiting as they should.

Again, this is all my opinion based on my experience. Take it with however much salt you want :P

Let's be real here, CS:S Jail is dead.. But, its successor still has hope! CS:GO is still a relatively new game, and due to the lack of Jail mod servers, it has an opportunity to succeed, fast. Why bother on a game mod that is so yesterday, when we we can get a fresh start, and work on the new one so we don't get the same problems as before?

TL;DR: Stop caring about CSS Jail, and start caring about CSGO jail instead.

CS:GO Jail had (sadly) the same result that CS:S Jail has. Plus, like RDK said, we don't even have it anymore.

The problem with CS:GO Jail was simple - people complained they wanted it and when it was brought in, those same people who wanted it, were the ones that didn't bother filling it up or playing on it.

As it stands, CS:S Jail is the only out of the two that 'still' has a chance of succeeding.

Hm. There was no news post on the removal, and I don't have CSGO on my new (Well, old) Steam account.

There was no news about that, yes.

Currently the CS:GO servers are: 2 Vertigo, Gun-Game and a Office server.

Believe we the Jail server was moved offline either before the Vertigo servers went up or the Vertigos took its place.

Hey guys, I really like this discussion going on here, and I'd be very happy if more people posted their opinions and how they think it can be fixed. Here's a few of my thoughts:

Jail is 90% players, and it also seems as though 95% of the thing's y'all are complaining about are the wardens. I'll say this: several years ago, there was an entirely different group of players, complaining about an entirely different set of problems. These things change and morph over time. All I will say is to just give it time, the player base will change, and everything will (eventually) get better, it just needs time.

RDK: I like your idea about freedays, perhaps it could be applied to STs as well, we will see.

I've read the whole thread and I do take everything into consideration, keep your suggestions coming, they are all good.

Thanks a lot Cryptex, I'm glad you stepped up and said all that, this thread is for ideas to help fix Jail and it was slowly straying away from that.

Thanks again ;].

With the bomb heres one such as rule or at least a suggestion:

Give your team a 30+ second notice of when you are going to plant the bomb.

Such as "Hey guys at 6:00 I will plant the bomb, so might want to get ready to run or just rebel now!" when its like 6:30 or 7:00, etc.

Don't just run to a bomb site, plant, camp it, die and CTs defuse. It takes teamwork to defend a bomb like on Dust2, Highschool, etc.

With the message of the day thing we could probably remove the advertisements. We could have some sort of poll that the pubs can fill out to see what they like.

I think we need to be more creative and think of more LR games and on new maps make new games. Like in some maps there is more stuff than others but I think we need to get more games so people find it more fun. I have been on other jail server s and they have a few more games than we do, if we expand our creativity and look at new thing and make games different and more intresting I think people would come back and stay for longer. And for rebiling maybe make some sort of way where it is really hard to rebel. On some maps its so easy to do, but on others it is more of a challenge which people need to get better, I know getting better makes maps harder to make to prevent rebeling. And freekilling is a big part of it I remember that my friend raged so much times because he got freekilled so he just stopped playing so maybe be a little stricter on that. Cell block games really annoying so maybe differ in games indoor and outdoor. I only know of one map that has boat wars on it and that is the map canyon and people always pick that map because its balenced with rebeling and in games. Maybe people probaly wont read this because it is too long but just take the time to read and think about what YOU can do to help and try and resolve this problem
