GameMe Rankings officially pointless

It would be a huge improvement, actually, especially in light of the massive influx of new players we've recently seen on our servers.

Let's say you're demoknighting on 2fort and you're having a fairly good day- 12 kills in a row and 0 deaths. Even though the players you killed are new to the server (they only have 1k points each), you're 24 points up and you're feeling good. THEN one of these new players decides to go sydney sleeper and gets a lucky shot off and takes you out. BOOM, you've just lost every single one of those points PLUS 1.

Now, that may not seem so bad as a single instance, but suppose you get clipped by a random heavy or pyro crit as you leave spawn. Now you're DOWN 26 points on the day.


With the system I proposed, your 2 deaths would only subtract 4 points from your points gained on the day. It would be an even give and take, and would better reflect a player's skill.
 
I actually played on this pub once where dying didn't take points off. The leaderboard was insane.

It seems I'm the only one who plays to get points? ;\

It really helps me focus on getting kills and not dying, since you lose so many when you die. I've been improving significantly since I turned gameme_vanish to 0 and started caring. And it's still fun, too. :D

I sort of care, but I don't really get annoyed either. I don't think I move down in the rankings at all, so I just go my merry way, blowing pinatas into gory bits with an explosive weapon.
 
^ just so you know, your forum name and your steam name must match. you cannot have two different names.
 
the thing that critsizes you about ur skilsl and ranks you by it? oh it commited sucide when they saw me top of the board on games as a medic.

i stopped paying attention to it in other words... im topp ranked as a medic in all my games in tf2 i usally get 40 kills per round as a medic on my good days. people asumed iw as hacking but it was just me being smart over healing and amputator taunting .
 
it depends what class youre using. 40 kills per round with sniper is impressive, but 40 kills with heavy per round is average.
 
ah. in that case i'm not sure if he didn't mean 40 points per round. i consider myself to be a superb medic and i can record maybe 25 kills per round on my best day (and that's 25 pure kills- no assists). I mean, unless he's going rambo medic and not healing his team at all... i spend the majority of my time healing and supporting my team, as any proper medic should.
 
i've had the idea recently that maybe we could start resetting the rankings on a monthly basis. if that's possible.

Pfft, I usually get 30-45 kills when I play sniper.
