GW2 Budget Computer?

Pretty much budget is $600-$700, The only game i plan on playing is GW2 and maybe,,maybe WoW.

My concern is the 7850 going to be bottlenecked by the Intel G860? I saw it for $5 cheaper than the lowest 6870. I cant afford the i5 2500k right now maybe in the future but this is just for GW2. Also is the motherboard good? I'm terrible at knowing whats good and what's not.

I would of chose the AMD Phenom 965BE but from I understand from benchmarks the G860 outperforms every FX and some of the old phenoms in gaming.

Resolution is normally 1280x1024, Max is 1600x900.
 
So im taking a guess that your current system already has Win7? Also im taking a guess that you already have a case that you still wanna use? Same with monitor, keyboard & mouse?

1st off, NEVER cheaper yourself on your cpu. Ever thought bout what cpu stands for? Central processing unit. This means that EVERYTHING revolves around this piece of hardware (except for the power supply). The cpu gives all the other hardware instructions on what they need to do in order to perform the functions that you tell it to do. Therefore, since I love to do research, I found a better cpu thatll easily dominate that lil piece of junk cpu that you posted. I will admit that I like Intel, but would never stoop myself that low. Even if I had to go AMD, I would rather get myself something that would be considered worthy of my $$. Just so you know, I have upgraded my moms desktop w/ an AMD dual core (thats all it needs) & it still continues to run like a freakin dream!

Just so ya know, your wishlist is public, so if you have other friends that would like to check it out & give you possible feedback, feel free to send it to them. I would also like to encourage other techies in the forum to check it out & give their feedback. I know that some of the items may not be the best, but for his price range, itll work til he can set aside more $$. Btw, I just now upgraded both the motherboard & processor since they were only like $10 more than the previous ones that I had selected. Now youll get the best rated cpu.

When you on a tight budget like this & since you spec said that you couldnt afford to do the i5-2500k, I immediately thought AMD cause I knew I could save ya some $$ going that route. Also since you didnt specify that you wanted to overclock, I didnt put an aftermarket heatsink in there. Besides 1 of those will only let ya back like $30 on avg (esp for the really good heatsinks).

One more thing. I looked into Canyourunthis.com & found that you really dont need a hardcore system to pay GW2. Not even WoW needs a hardcore system anymore. Another thing I will note is that if you want to improve your computer, then stop playing (& paying) to play WoW. Youll be impressed by how much $$ you save so that you can make your desktop more dominate.

GW2 is a weaker game, so the cpu would not bottleneck you:

At higher resolutions, the cpu matters less and the gpu is the limiting factor. However, if you play at 1280x1024, cpu could be a factor. However, even the weakest intel dual core (like you are considering) provides better performance than AMDs $200 flagship cpu at stock. A 7850 should be plenty of power at those resolutions:

7850 should come in between the 6870 and 7870.

However, for future proofing, I feel that this would be a better option in terms of cpu and motherboard:

I would also look at switching to this combo for your psu:

Brings the case price down to the same as the one you are considering, but it looks to be a much better case in terms of the features.

Or if you wanted to save some money to offset the additional cost of the cpu/mobo, you could go with the corsair cx430 psu and the nzxt gamma case:

I already have a keyboard, mouse, i do not have Win7 but ill factor in the $99 for the oem version. I made this post near 2am ish so I left out alot.

The other reason i chose Intel over the 965 was in couple months after taxes prolly i could upgrade the cpu to a quad, instead of having to buy a different mobo and cpu together. I'm not big on overclocking...I've never done it tbh. What performance should I expect with the 965? I've tried looking for benchmarks but only saw people with the 955 getting horrid results.

I dont plan to max the game, just high settings, subsampling..no AA..I dont play with AA...the jagged lines never bother me unless its a low resolution.

I do thank you for the options. I'm still messing with things, before settling on parts.

Well, if you plan to upgrade that soon, sticking with the cpu you have is probably fine. However, I would go for a better mobo like the universally recommended asrock z77 extreme4. This will allow you to overclock the 3570k when you get it which is easy to do and basically provides free performance over the non k cpus which are locked. I only recommended the i3 as I assumed you were not going to be upgrading for a bit, and in most instances, it is a substantial improvement, especially the newer ivy bridge version.

A 7850 might be overkill as well for what you want, but if you think there is a chance you could play it at a higher resolution in the future or you could branch out to some more games, I think the 7850 is a great option at a fantastic price point.
 
Right now the only goal is GW2..possibly Borderlands 2. There is a great chance I'll prolly try more games though. I'm just rather impatient atm xD.

not to mention a 7850 being $164...$5 cheaper than a 6870..I figured it was too good to pass up. The I3 will last for a while, depends on when i get taxes..college etc etc so its not like ill buy it for a month than replace it.

This is $142 after $20 rebate when using the 10% off code, so that is actually a better deal. Borderlands 2 and other newer games are definitely going to be more gpu intensive, so the 7850 is then a good buy. This is only the 1gb version, not the standard 2gb one, but that should be okay for these lower resolutions you are playing at.

If you are keeping it for a decent bit, I think the combo deal I posted would be a wise move for now, and you probably won't have to upgrade for even longer. This cpu will be faster in general use which is good.
 
Yeah, I was told 2GB is good for like 1920x1080p and so on, where as, 1gb is fine for 1280 and 1650 etc.

I don't know how to do rebates =[. Never done them.
 
It's easy. Usually all you have to do is cut out the UPC and then fill out a sheet and mail them in to the specified address. Just click on the pdf of the rebate and it gives instructions. If you follow them exactly, you should not have a problem.
