Building New Rig - $2250

I've had my current rig for about 7 months but I am going to now be using that for work (it's a complicated situation). I'm going to be building a new rig that I plan on lasting me for years. Here is what I have so far at $2250.

Well the only suggestion I have is that since you're going overkill on cpu, gpu, & psu, you might as well go overkill on the memory. Double up on the memory & this way you def wont have to worry bout the system for years, thats for sure!

Also im surprised that your not going with Win7 Pro or Ultimate with this rig! But thats w/e since its your rig.

The only thing I see missing is just a DVD or Blu Ray drive for the rig. Oh, and maybe bump the HD to 1 TB instead of just 500GB. I like the case you picked out; I would definitely be picking that to own if I had the money.

Overkill is my goal in trying to future proof this rig ! As far as operating systems go I have never elected to purchase the Pro or Ultimate version because I did not see the value in them. Am I missing something?

Might also want to think about a heatsink, your choice depends on whether or not you are going to overclock it. I'd suggest a air cooled one, closed water loops are alright but I don't like you can't really control the flow or know how much air is actually in the system. Or could watercool but thats only if you're going to overclock.

You'd want to make use of the quad channel memory controller. If you stick with 16gb, make sure to get it in 4x4GB.

I believe they can actually run dual, tripple, or a quad channel depending on what you install, so not necessarily a problem.

Slightly more expensive, but amazing overclocking potential due to 30nm manufacturing if you are into that. Not sure you would ever need 64gb of ram anyways, 32gb should be plenty.

Seems newegg is running a 1yr extended warranty with purchase atm as well if having a super long warranty is a concern of yours. Don't think you are going to lose anything yet save $100.

800D is a nice case, but it is usually considered a water cooling case since it can be modded for many radiators installed internally. Not sure it will be the best air cooling case. That and it is a fairly expensive case if you are not planning to do a custom water loop.

Definitely up that ssd to a 256gb and consider the crucial m4, samsung 830, or vertex 4. I recently purchased the samsung 830 256gb for $155 on amazon as they are clearing them out for the release of the 840.

Power supply seems overkill unless you plan to use 3 of these 680s in the future with everything overclocked:

I don't have much experience with putting computers together let alone water cooling a computer. Would it be a wise idea to look into water cooling as a "beginner"?

1.Get the samsung memory. They OC like pro's!
2.3930K does not come with a cooler, so you do need one.
3. Get a seasonic850 Instead of the 1050HX
4. Get the 240GB samsung SSD Instead and get the storage drive for later or get a seagate.
