Does anyone know if the person I crashed into is arrested for DUI is it better for me?

There was three cars involved

there was the first car second car and third car. I hit the 2nd car. the first car was parked without emergency lights on.

I was in the third car
the driver in the second car was later arrested for DUI
the driver in the first car ran away.

I also think the second car and first car got into an accident wbefore I hit the second car

Does the outcome look good for me?

Any law enforcement people in eGO wanna help me out please T_T.

i think that you would prob get the blame for the crash if the 2 people in front blamed u, the dui would be treated seperatly and basically u would pay for both the damage on the first 2 cars, but thats just what i think would likely happen

From this day foward I will be driving like an old granny.

My friend told me I should write the events while it is still clear in my head so here it is.

I was driving along the highway east going about 50-55 mph and making lane changes from the 1st lane to the 4th lane on my right. As soon as I made it to the 4th lane, I saw the car in front of me braking and I did not see that there in front of it was a parked car. I did not have enough time to brake and ended up hitting the driver of the silver Honda Civic. The driver of the parked car on the 4th lane of the highway was a Blue Green Chrysler. After the initial contact, the driver of the Blue Green Chrysler ran away from the scene of the accident. The driver of the silver Honda Civic was not hurt and did not request for any medical attention when I contacted 911. The driver of the Honda Civic was arrested for DUI and I was able to drive my car away from the scene when the CHP officer gave me go ahead.

I do not know if there was another accident before I hit the Honda Civic and according to the driver of the Honda Civic no light was on in the Chrysler to indicate that it had stopped and the emergency light according the driver in the Honda Civic was not on.

My car sustained damages to the front area of the car. The engine seems to be intact. The hood and front upper grill area took the brunt of the impact. The Honda Civic had almost negligible damage to the back bumper with pain transfer on it. The Honda Civic driver indicated to me that he could not open his right passenger door properly and his car would not start. His front bumper also received moderate damage. The Chrysler car had no visible damage to it on its back bumper and it would seem it made no contact with the Honda Civics front bumper.

I think whatever is reasonable will happen to you :)
I think the parked car without lights will get the blame. If the tech unit from the police finds out that you couldn't brake in time (they will by your tire tracks) you'll be good, I assume.

P.S.
Asking John about this won't help, I think. He's a donut lawyer (no kidding).

Now did you hit the car once you're in the 4th lane or when you're still changing from 3rd to 4th? Rear end collision is not always your fault and in this case, you can blame DUI driver on 2nd car and the driver in the first car for park in a lane on freeway. In no circumstances, he can park on a freeway lane and he doesn't have emergency light on... or does he?

Yikes. I'm not driving yet (I am more than old enough, but I am scared to drive due to my horrible depth perception. I've already trashed and ATV and nearly launched into a rock wall because I floored it when I thought I couldn't fit it between a rock and my friends truck :S) though we've been in 2 car accidents quite recently...

The first time was in our nice old convertible. We were on the San Diego freeway, the high occupancy lane, and somehow, some drunk guy in a freakin HUMMER somehow managed to get in between us and the wall on the freeway and managed not to kill me and my grandma on the drivers side of the car. I still nearly got my arm torn off though... The guy just kept driving on and hit about 10 more cars before being caught. Apparently that was his fifth DUI and his second parole violation.

The second time my friend Milli had picked me up from school, and she wasn't quite paying attention when she went over an intersection and a speeder came and rammed into the side of the car. The people were actually quite supportive, at least until the police report came. Then they claimed that we rammed them, which doesn't make any darn sense because then our car would have to have been driving sideways. The police report was hysterical and at the same time ridiculous, because that's what it described; us speeding our car while driving sideways to the right. Totally makes sense physically, no?

are you ok? thats most important? remember if there is any odd pain, please see a doctor. somethings don't really hurt right away due to adreneline. but you might have a case because the guy you hit had no emergency lights on, perhaps because of the intoxication, but still.

I'm feeling kinda neck pains, but it could be fom me being tense all day or

does anyone know hwo whiplash is supposed to feel?

I depends on the state. In Michigan the person with the DUI would be blamed for both. Why? Because he was not suppose to be driving, period.

@ Buck on whiplash: Whiplashes are hard to diagnose, there is like no scientific standard on the subject.

I got a patch for the back of my neck area its killing me right now but with the patch on it helps.

I am going to end up having to only pay for part of the guys repairs because of his DUI.

K, good to hear everything worked out (sort of) well for you :)

The wait is killing me though for the insurance to take their time in telling me when I can take the car into a body shop to get it repaired.

did you change from lane 4 to 1 in one motion? if so, you would be part at fault.

>_< No I did not I'm not that crazy to do that.

And of course I stayed on the scene not that crazy either. I'm going for law enforcement how would that look on my record saying I ran away.
