Sound

Now really i don't know how to explain this but. I went on Microsoft's site to update my pc and i downloaded the updates i needed. Well when your done updating you half to restart and i did. When i did restart i did have sound but when my pc came back up there was no sound at all. I use headphones and there is nothing wrong with the cord or the connection. Really there is no sound coming out of my pc at all. Even with speakers... Can somebody please help me fix this.

Did you double click the volume icon in the tray? Make sure nothing is muted.

Some times Windows Media Player or MusicMatch(yahoo music now i think) will take over for being the default volume control. I use Creative's software that comes with my soundcard to run my volume control, I do not let windows run the volume.

check that the drivers of the soundcard works

Also try opening up the master sound control it might also be that problem because one time I had the volume all the way up on the desktop but the master volume was muted so it would not make a sound.

How do i check my master volume and creative runs my sound i hope....

The directions will be different if you are running vista or XP so you got to specify for people to help you man.

Also form your original post it sounds like - there is a posibility that - windows update decided to update your sound driver to the *latest* version, which may not work with your system. I would go to the windows update website manually and one of the options should be 'view my update history' and see exactly what updates you got on that day. Report back and i'm sure somebody will help you.

I 100% agree with GreenMonkey!

I beleve that many people can walk you through this, but it could get ugly to start following several people at the same time. I strongly encourage you to pick one person and have them exhaust things with you.

There are many ways to skin a cat, and to address your issue.

Green i had this posted on the CSS side, the Tf2 side and this side....

the TF2 side helped me the most.
