With the newer release of Counter Strike Global offensive, ESEA and CEVO have announced that they will no longer be supporting Counter Strike Source within the next two Season.

and i'll get out ahead of this one, yes we are dropping source invite, and source will not be a part of the s13 lan, but as promised, we'll continue to support it at the amateur level for as long as people want to play

also as promised, cs 1.6 invite lives on both online and lan

Guess CS:S is dying /:

CS:S will never "Die". I am sure there will be more people active on Source. CS:GO will start picking up but not get as good as Source.

There was around 300 teams in the CSGO open conference of ESEA last season. Each player pays $8 to play the league. With at least 5 players on a team there's a lot of money there.

CS:S open had around 130 teams last season, a lot of people are switching over to GO.

And I think so since a lot of people only play 1.6 @_@

I see nothing on ESEA about dropping source, where'd you see this? CEVO is only supporting newer games currently only CS:GO, SC 2, and Dota 2

Personal messaging, and our team manager is from net code :D

They just want to force more players to play GO.

That's a part of it, but it seems like it would be the way to go as far as competitive. With the updates they've been putting out with free specing etc it looks like a lot more appealing game than it was back when it was released.
