Valve probably dumped a boatload of money to make them switch. It's stupid. CS:GO is a poor game at best.

How many people HONESTLY like CS:GO more than CS:S ? Just curious.

They only had to pay ESEA to drop their invite league and CEVO to drop it completely.
There really isn't too many other leagues, there are a few euro leagues but none that are in the North American region
One just closed down but it was free to enter filled with hackers, so this is all that's here atm

I am sorry,but even though all of my CEVO/CAL/CPL/WCG experience is CS 1.3-1.6 based i agree this is absolutely idiotic to put an end to CS:S on any degree for ESEA/CEVO period. I don't know what these people are thinking just because CS:GO was released,but they will find out sooner or later that this will just not pan out great for them.

CS:GO has been out for probably a couple or few months. Honestly i wouldn't really say that CS:GO sucks as much as it is just a completely different game with its' own way of action. Even with it being part of the "CS" series i wouldn't say that it is going to replace any of the previous games 1.6/CS:S.... CS:GO obviously isn't for everyone...CS:GO has the same graphics if not better than CS:S,and the way the guns react/act are completely different from any other CS game. The way the guns shoot/act are more realistic in nature compared to how it would in real life. The only gun i would say is completely imaginary and not at all realistic is the one above the PARA...You might as well put the M234 Dillion Minigun into the game with that stupid thing shooting as fast as it does.
I'm really am not a CS:GO fan at all. I like the graphics and the maps but the game play is way too "drunken" of movement. It reminds me of COD black ops. I hope at some point they will change it to CSS and then I'll be a regular.
