Thoughts on the current Heavy

Never occurred to me they were op. So I will have to say no I never thought they were or are op. Always thought of them as easy targets.

Honourbound, that's exactly my point. Spy runs up in front of someone, aims for the face, and BLAMMO! Backstab! Heavy runs...well, waddles...up behind someone, aims for the back, and it's Swing! ...and a miss, everytime.

In a nutshell:

OP in a direct fight.

Seriously. You're doomed against a full health Heavy in a face-to-face fight unless you got a Medic on you and/or you have weapons with a very high damage output. (Like a Beggar's Bazooka or 2 close range Direct Hit shots.)

I guess my general quarrel is that valve releases all these new weapons and it waters down the experience. I think the should shift their thoughts from the +/- the new item has to that plus what edge does it take from the foes. A Hulong would set a close range spy/scout on fire for example

The fire really isn't a big deal.

As a spy, I just jump over the fire.

Also, as a soldier, I too see heavies as an easy target. I can rocket jump away in the time it takes them to rev up, if they're right there. If they aren't, four rockets from around corners or far away can usually kill a heavy.

Scouts can still get meatshots on Heavies while still being out of range of the fire. Plus they can easily double jump around the fire. Fire also doesn't stop a Spy from stabbing, it just lights him on fire. (Not like that's not a bad thing, it's just that the Huo Long isn't a lifesaver.)

I didn't even know Spies could jump over it.

Yeah, the fire is only at low altitude. A spy jumping can easily clear it, which is why, imo, the heater is kind of a useless weapon. It's a crutch for heavies who don't spycheck, and it only works on bad spies.

Heavy is a Pretty Princess!!

In all seriousness, I like the heavy a lot, but like any TF2 character, he needs good back-up and team work. Valve usually puts a lot of time into making their weapons balanced and I enjoy playing the Heavy a lot, but I prefer to heal and ?ber one. ;)

I don't think it's overpowered, really. It just doesn't require as much skill as some of the other classes.
