Posting links ( help )

This may sound REALLY stupid, but how can I put a picture or link in a post that shows the complete picture? I've tried using

but that doesn't work, unless I'm doing something wrong. This goes for posting YouTube links as well, whenever somebody posts a link of their own I can see a square with the videoclip of the song and I can also press play. Whenever I try to post a link however, the only thing I get is the actual link.

Again, this will come across really stupid but.. Ah wel..

Youtube videos autoembed. so if you just put the link in your post it will embed itself.

tags must have a direct link in between them.
example:

[img]http://dev.nothingishere.net/images/SephSig1.png

Mm I tried posting a picture of mine using my Facebook link, but that doesn't work. Neither will it work when I grab the .png url.

That wasn't a direct link, the correct link would've been

The way you would obtain a direct link from most websites (unless you're already viewing the image directly) would be to right click the image and select "Open image in new tab" if you're in chrome (I use chrome, for other browsers it will be something similar. I'm unsure about IE however)

when you upload an image, you can get the image URL, just copy and paste it in [img..]
