Hey guys, today i present a rather difficult problem. (for me anyway.)
I have been trying to start up Steam's Big Picture, but i keep getting this error.

"Steam big picture mode requires DirectWrite. Its looks like you
are running Windows Vista which supports DirectWrite, but you need to install SP2 and the Windows Vista Platform Update (available via Windows Update)"

Well, i did as it told me and downloaded SP2. Then, after about an hour of it updating, i start up steam, and same error.

I checked the forums, and it said to update my graphic drive.
So, i did, but it said it is already updated.

Here's my specs:

Help is much appreciated. :)

Also, on my steam, i went to settings>interfaces> then i tried to tick "Enable DirectWrite" but it is grayed out.

:/

This may seem like an obvious question, however, did you download the "Vista platform update?" You mentioned the two components that Steam listed for your to download, yet you only claimed to have downloaded SP2 in your post.

I have been so focused on having directwrite, i missed the second part. excuse my blooper.
