First and foremost, eGO does not tolerate discrimination in any way, shape, form, or manner. What exactly is discrimination you ask? Let me go into detail:
Discrimination is the prejudicial or distinguishing treatment of an individual based on his or her membership - or perceived membership - in a certain group or category(race, gender, age, sexuality, etc). It involves the group's initial reaction or interaction, influencing the individual's actual behavior towards the group or the group leader, restricting members of one group from opportunities or privileges that are available to another group, leading to the exclusion of the individual or entities based on logical or irrational decision making.
Some types of discrimination:
Racism is the belief in the inherent superiority of one’s races over all others and thereby the right to dominance.
Sexism is the belief in the inherent superiority of one's sex and thereby the right to dominance.
Heterosexism is the belief in the inherent superiority of one’s patterns of loving and thereby the right to dominance.
Sexual discrimination involves treating someone unfavorably because of that person's sexual orientation.
There are many other types of discrimination, but mentioned above is what we encounter frequently while playing games and on the Internet.
Often times, in the heat of the moment, it is very easy to let words slip out unexpectedly. Words that may seem okay when used in certain context, but that no matter the context may still be offensive to others. It is your responsibility as a member of this community to always abide by the rules set forth in our code of conduct. the very first rule is "No foul, degrading, or racist remarks." This covers a wide variety of words but can include a word like 'gay' or 'queer' or '***'. We understand that it is common to hear someone say 'That's gay' when referring to how bad something may be. However, you have to understand that some people may find the use of that term, no matter the context, offensive.
With all that being said, the CS Leadership would like to remind you all that there is never an acceptable time where discrimination is allowed in our servers. We do not tolerate it one bit and will take firm action against it. If you encounter it while playing in our servers, please let any CS Leadership member know or utilize the dropbox and we will handle it as soon as possible.
Thank you again, and keep up the good work everyone,
CS Leadership
