Alrighty men (and Ric) - it's time for some serious discussion. Over the course of playing CS:S - I have seen that there seems to be little thinking involved. People seem almost too eager to spam an MG, run and gun with a P90, or even (God forbid) go absolutely crazy with a shotgun at long range.
That being said, I want to discuss with you all some tactics, things that (hopefully) can make your lives a bit easier, and cause less dying and more killing.
1. KNOW THY WEAPON: Are you horrible at sniper? Do you play poorly with the AK? Then dont use it. Use the guns and equipment that suits your play style best. That being said, also consider the situation. Is a pump action shotgun REALLY going to be useful in DUST2? Make sure that you are choosing the weapon that will suit you best.
2. HAVE A PLAN: This may seem to be obvious, but don't just go running around willy-nilly like some crazy chicken with your head cut off. Have a plan of attack, coordinate with your teammates. Want to rush Garage in Office, or waterfall in DUST2 - THEN COMMUNICATE. Have a plan before hand, and make sure that you are able to adapt!
3. AIM, FIRE! Gun control in CSS isnt too hard, but it takes some getting used too. Protip - aim for the head and/or chest. Consider how far away your enemy is. Trying to pick them off with single shots from a distance, shoot short bursts at medium distance, and for the love of God dont just spray and pray all over the place, even if they are at close range. Aim with intent, and fire in bursts/single shots to ensure that your target goes down easy.
4. MISSION-MINDED: Pay attention to the objective of the map. Are you supposed to be planting a bomb, defusing one, guarding hosties, rescuing hosties? Whatever the case, have your endgame in mind, and work your way through the map so as to reach that endgame.
5. USE YOUR EQUIPMENT: Besides your gun, know different simple strategies that make your equipment all the more useful. Guy inside the building ahead? Well then flash/nade him! Out of ammo on your primary? Bring out the Deagle! Dark? Use nightvision!
Overall, it is good to take a solid look at what you are using and HOW you are playing the game. If you are dissatisfied with your K/D, or just your gameplay in general, taking a step back can really help.

Dont be insane.
