TF2 Validation Error

Every time I want to play TF2, Steam starts to validate its files.

Even after it hits 100% and I can play the game, if I quit, I have to go through the whole process again.

Anyone else have this problem?

But you have to wait a while until it actually says 'complete' until you can play.

I actually just close it once it says 100%. Then I launch again and its fine.

I occasionally have this problem if I am switching between multiple Steam accounts. I don't know what the actual reason is, but it wouldn't hurt to verify the game cache integrity through properties. I would try that and see if it helps.

DJ, i had the exact same issue. Id be willing to bet that you can't view any of your replay's either (if you care about that sort of thing). I solved this issue by simply uninstalling and then reinstating tf2. fixed all my issues. I would recommend to save a copy of all your scripts if you have any for your classes.

Every once in a while, I encounter this problem. All I do is defrag my cache files, then everything goes back to normal.

Same problem, I just browse the Outpost or Youtube till it's done

I had to actually quit out of steam restart, and try it again. It usually works but if not then you may have to wait.

i had the same problem, and when it finish and go to the game, after few minutes it crash, i reinstalled steam twice, same with the game donwloaded twice and i still have the same problem, any advice???

Hmm, I see I'm not the only one with this problem then. Hoping I don't have to reinstall TF2 on my somewhat slow internet.

I remembered I had this problem once, which lasted a while and worried me before. I did not know what to do so I reinstall my TF2. I hope you do not have to do that.

Mine just started doing this yesterday as well. I read somewhere to let it verify, then defrag afterwards. Going to try this later.
