I'm about to buy this long time classic but first I'd like some opinions from those who own it.

With my interests in DoD dying slowly I really want a new game that I can fall in love with like I did with DoD. I'll always play it but I cannot for nearly as long as I used to. I suppose 1400 hours of active playing is starting to take its toll.

From what I understand it's a great game. I used to play a tiny bit of the original HL1 mod at my friends house 6 or 7 years ago. The only seemingly negative aspect is that the learning curve of the aliens is quite steep.

K anyway. Who owns it and what do you think thus far? Good looks.

Yeah I have it, I don't play it as much as I should.

At any rate the aliens I find require far less teamwork due to their extremely superior speed. I've only won one game as marines and plenty as aliens, which was sort of turning me off from the game

Before you buy it do this, look in the mirror and wonder where your life has been going up to this point, ponder all of your mistakes, your triumps, and your failures. Then buy this game and contrast how much better your life is now that you own it.

TLDR: It rocks my socks off

Best review ever.

OP: I don't have it, but I'll probably get it when the Steam Autumn Sale comes in a few.

Both teams require vast amounts of teamwork and coordination. Both the exosuit and the onos require backup support of welders/gorges to keep them combat ready. What marines lack in raw speed they gain via distress beacons and phase gates, allowing them to quickly move about the battlefield. This is a team based game, and the difference in teamwork required to win is so little as to be negligible.

Thanks for the posts thus far everyone. Yesterday I decided I'm going to buy it Thursday. Hopefully I'll love it. :)

NS1 was amazing. even with the hl1 graphics it was a blast to play

NS2 however, took it and expanded on it, innovating new ideas into the game, yet keeping it the same nature. It really is alot of fun to play, IF your Computer is good enough to play it.

Its a very strong team-work based game, and at times that can get a little frustrating (getting terrible commanders, for example). But, overall, its a blast.

9/10 for me
