How to play TF2?

Play each class to find which you like the best (spend at least an hour on each). The most important thing is to play stock weapons until you have at least 10 hours on the class. There are few cases where non stocks are better than the stocks.

Not true. Spy depends heavily on nonstock weapons to fit each situation, the kritz could be much better than an uber depending on the situation and the gunslinger can make a huge difference on offense or koth maps.

Just to name a few.

A few.

The setups I've found most useful are:

Scout-
Stock
Mad Milk or Bonk
Sandman

Soldier-
Stock
Reserve Shooter or Stock
Escape Plan

Pyro-
Degreaser
Flare Gun
Axtinguisher

Demo-
Stock
Stock
Stock or Ullapool

Heavy-
Stock
Sandvich
Stock

Engie-
Pomson
Wrangler
Jag or Gunslinger

Medic-
Blutsauger
Stock or Kritz, depending on situation
Ubersaw

Sniper-
Amateurs shouldn't play sniper.
But, when you get better, you can mess around with sniper.
Stock or Huntsman or Sydney Sleeper
Jarate (or Darwin's shield ONLY with sleeper when you have the set)
Bushwacka

Spy-
Same goes for spy.
Any watch, depends on which you like best.
DO NOT use the Eternal Reward at first, you WILL GET MAULED. Stock.
Stock or Enforcer. I use the Diamondback just to mess around.
The sapper depends on the situation. For nests with more than 1 engie, use the recorder. For just 1, use stock.

Hope you can use this!

A few things I'd change

Ambassador > Enforcer, if you have good aim or can sneak up on unsuspecting engineers.

The Pretty Boy's Pocket Pistol is the best scout secondary, hands down. 15 extra health and no fall damage is godlike. Unless the other team is full of pyros, I'd recommend this over bonk any day.

And for soldier, I like the gunboats more than the shotty, but that's an argument for another day. However, I would not recommend the reserve shooter unless you're really good at bouncing.

Well, I don't think there is such a thing as a bad weapon. It all just depends on how well you can use it. The Short Circuit is wonderful for getting rid of stickies, while the razorback does block a backstab. I know the Razorback has saved me a bunch of times, haha.

Yes, I admit the Short Circuit can be sometimes quite useful, yet the Razorback? Spies will just shoot you in the face with an Ambassador.
I had a Strange Razorback once; one stab blocked on a noobish server.

I guess as spy I sometimes do stab the Razorback just to rid the sniper of it, but only when he notices me.

Phlubs, on a slightly unrelated note, your sig makes me laugh every time I see it.

OH! Weapons to add to the DO NOTE USE LIST: The Direct Hit (until you get really good at aiming), the scottish resistance (regular sticky launcher is just better) and the buffalo steak sandvich (it locks you to your melee weapon. Only use it if you're messing around).

With the Direct Hit, as you said, you need to learn to aim nicely. I wouldn't advice the Direct Hit after CoD for obvious reasons (CoD: shoot random RPG at people hoping for it to hit)

I played quite a bit with the Liberty Launcher then switched to the Direct Hit and found it quite easy to hit people. It's kinda like sniping, where you predict where the person will be when the bullet ( or in that case; rocket ) hits him

The major difference is that TF2 requires way more skill to be efficient than in CoD.

And that's saying a lot considering games like Quake require even MORE skill.

A few.
Medic-
Blutsauger
Stock or Kritz, depending on situation
Ubersaw

In my experience, the blutsauger is far less effective than stock. As a medic, you regen health anyways, so why would you want to replace that with regen that you might get if you hit the target.

Also, never use it against pyros. You'll usually survive the afterburn with the needlegun, but without passive regen you will almost always die from the fire.

Stock or Huntsman or Sydney Sleeper
Jarate (or Darwin's shield ONLY with sleeper when you have the set)
Bushwacka

Sydney Sleeper

Sydney Sleeper

.

Sydney Sleeper goes with the Pomson for weapons that are abominations and should be burned in righteous fire >_>

Same could be said for the Machina, depending on how much you respect the sniper class.

The Sydney Sleeper and the Machina promote body shots.
Yet the Sleeper at least promotes teamwork.
I would recommend crafting the Machina into a Hitman's Heatmaker.

Jeez guys, I'm talking about with the set.

Otherwise it's pretty useless. When you're against pro snipers, it's fun to ban them from headshots :)

Even without the set, it's by far the best Sniper Rifle. It takes almost no time to charge for the full 150 damage, and you never practically need more than that per burst if you're on a competent team.

It is not.

The stock is capable of doing 150 in far less time than the Sleeper's charge if you can aim.

Speaking of Machina, I had a fellow chew out another sniper for using the Heatmaker and told him that the Machina is a better weapon.

If you have infinitely perfect aim, sure. But, if you're being practical, it's much faster and easier to get that rapid fully-charged bodyshot than the risky headshot.

There's a reason pros have banned it, even without the set.

I'd take skill over power any day.
