Say what? If , umm, appropriating a BF3 server is not an option, then I think things should stay the way they are. Admittedly, my personal bias says switch the HC server to normal, possibly even to a mixed mode, but both servers are pretty phenomenally successful. To change the Heavy Metal server would be disastrous.

I wouldn't mind a rotation, maybe not every round, but, say every 5th round or something, just to break up the monotony a little. Heavy Metal is still my favorite map but it might give some of us that prefer not only this server, but the people that play on it, a chance to play a different role every few rounds without worrying if we're creating a weak point in our team.

I just got it re-downloaded on my rig. I would love to jump in there and " Rumble " with you all sometime. God Speed everyone :)

Rotating to something like Harvest Day or Atacama Desert would be nice break up. Even one of the snow maps. Heavy Metal is an awesome map, and it being ranked 4th solidifies that, but in many games "battle lines" form and not much happens from that point on. Skagg, Tall and Papa can attest to that.

Yeah, most games it's whoever caps B first wins. Sometimes it just boils down to whichever transport chopper fills up the fastest and/or gets their first.

I would LOVE to see a 'special' mixed mode server with 500 tkt heavy metal (two rounds so you get to play RUS and US each once or maybe twice even) interspersed with Oasis rush or something like that, maybe a random couple rush rounds between heavy metals?

Or perhaps it does 500tkt chopper maps (atacama, port valdez, heavy metal) two rounds each with random rush maps between?

The Heavy Metal server is always populated and honestly I don't think we should change it. IMO a new mixed mode, non-hardcore server would be awesome and I would regularly play it. I am no where close to responsible enough to play hardcore mode.

Time for a bump...and I'll do it in the form of a question:

At the opening of this thread it was stated that the conversation was to be centered on a reconfiguration of the existing server, ~not~ the addition of a new, dedicated Conquest rotation server. Why?

I agree with leaving the HM server alone to maintain its rank. However, I wonder about how folks are accessing it. Is it added to favorites or are pubs searching "=(eGO)=", I suspect the majority is the former, but for whatever percentage makes up the latter we'd see instant traffic on any new box. There's no substitute for brand recognition.

I believe I represent some (most) of the =e= userbase when I say that I'd rather play with clanners than pubs when I have a hankering for conquest. Mustered in with other =e='s it is reasonable to expect the best squad ribbon 50% of the time. With pubs...you just hope to avoid griefers. Bottom line, the clan provides for 2/3 of our members BC2 playing needs but there's a gap where it comes to conquest play. For that we send our boys off to war on foreign servers. Maybe not awful for scouting and recruiting...but definitely not as fun when it comes to pure gameplay.

So, is there a previously identified reservation with adding a third box to the BC2 mix, or is this a reasonable consideration?

Thx,

The previous reason I received for not having a third BC2 server was because the hardcore was not as crowded as it could have been, although it is now much higher and regularly is the top attended hard core server; if not one of the top 20 BC2 servers in the world. Maybe it's time to reconsider that third box?

When I joined eGO the Heavy Metal server was largely populated with pubbers, and I was recruited out of those pubbers like a large number of =(e)='s and =(eG)='s today. There are usually at least a couple of members in Heavy Metal, up to half the server in the early evening, with people waiting in lines four and five deep just to play there. Maybe it is time.

I play rush a lot more than the Heavy Metal grind (and it can be pretty grindy)...and despite the Rush box being empty as I post this, I usually have to queue in the evenings to get in. Over the last two weeks the evening/weekend norm seems to be get into Rush immediately 1 out of 3 attempts...queue 1 or 2 deep the rest of the time. So, not totally gridlocked, but well attended.

The question left on the table is...is it bad for image of the =e= community to have a server that is potentially empty or thin? Beyond the obvious "waste of money" aspect I mean. Is the concern that a third box would pull players from the other two?

Because things get lost in translation, the next time I see you in Vent, Hex, I will hit you up.

Sound good to you?
