ok I thought the vidcard was going bad... so i shut down the system, and cleaned it all out really well with air. I then reseat everything and refire up the computer. and low and behold the vid card is working...(ok)

When i fired up CS:S i was getting a solid 60fps through firefights and the such... ( yes i have an old card, and that's what i get.)... but I noticed that at random times, the vid will stop, drop to 10fps for a split second, and then go back to normal.

There isn't really a rhyme or reason as to why or when this is happening. It could be when im standing still, or moving, firefight or scratching my butt. I am curious what other people thought the issue might be.

ATI radeon 3200
AMD phenom quadcore
6gb ram.

Thanks in advance

The fan could be dieing out. (After you cleaned it helped for a lilttle bit). Try Precision X, free utility to monitor your graphics card temps, fan speed, core clocks, memory clocks, and voltages.

It could be many things, possibly your cpu dieing out aswell, but most likely the old beat you got there lol.
