"The War Z" <-- Don't buy this game

Hello

I bought this game couple of days ago. It's still alpha or beta (unknown), copy of Dayz mod of Arma 2 but using another game engine.

The company: unknown
Producer: unknown
Project leader: unknown
Project team: unknown

They don't have a company page.

Their patches always fail, their servers always fall apart.

I recommend you watch youtube videos made for this game. Don't let scammer companies empty your pockets.
You'll get killed by another player before being able to run half a mile on the map. No matter if you have gun or not. You'll be frustrated instead of having fun.

I completely agree Turk, I had no fun, whatsoever, playing this game.

This "game" was actually discussed on PC Gamer magazine. Quick look at the FAQ:

Hammerpoint Interactive is a startup game development company formed in early 2011 by industry veterans with decades of combined game development experience. Prior to forming Hammerpoint, members of the team worked on titles, such as Call of Duty BlackOps and BlackOps2, Star Trek Online, League of Legends, World of Tanks, Guitar Hero, MechWarrior (yes the old ones) and more. The team is currently working on two games - one of them being The War Z and another that has not yet been announced.

Arktos Entertainment Group LLC is a Los Angeles based, private equity and investment company founded by Sergey Titov - ex Technical Director of Riot Games. The company funds cool game projects and also heavily invests in the development of next generation online game engine technology. We met them when we started doing contract development for Online Warmongers Group - a portfolio company of Arktos, and the developers of War Inc. Battle Zone, a free-to-play online shooter (you can check it out here - http://www.thewarinc.com ). At that time we were creating a prototype of War Z using UDK and when we got our hands on their own Eclipse engine we were super impressed. So when Sergey offered to back the development and provide the engine license, we agreed.

However, there are a lot of other people who have posted and complained about this game, especially on other forums. It appears the developers dislike any form of negativity by locking/deleting posts that they feel are against them, even if it's a simple thread as requesting how to submit a bug report or an issue. And how one of the producers began to swear at campers in game on the forums, I'd say this is a game that's not getting anywhere fast (or at least, fun for people to play).

In the argument that "The War Z" is a knock off of DayZ, didn't they claim that the game has been in development for years? How is this possible if the development company has only existed for barely 1 year?
 
At least, wait until they release a stable version (if they ever do it).

Let me point out couple stuff:

1- There is no vehicle function as seen here:

2- There is no wrapping corpses in military or these yellow suits:

3-You have absolutely no business with corpses, nothing can be found on them:

4-You don't usually get together with people and kill zombies as seen here:

5-This is very very very rare (getting together with others)

Survivors kill each other instead of zombies. If you have a gun, you get killed. If you don't have a gun, you get killed by other survivors. They will kill you even for a granola bar. Sometimes they say "hey I'm friendly, don't shoot" and after a minute of cooperation, they will kill you when you are scavenging.

Once you are killed, you have to disconnect from server, go to game menu and change a character and join a server again.

Today, I had a chance to discover the map for 2 hours. I found two M4s, one Mossberg shotgun and couple of cool pistols. I was really happy to have all these weapons. I was going to a safe zone to save my gear to global inventory but while crossing a city, a random guy spawned right behind me and killed me with a knife. I was about to smash my keyboard.

But it has a great potential if they work harder. It took them 6-8 hours to fix global server problems yesterday.
 
I am not gonna be the one to bash this game as there is enough of that already. This is simply an honest opinion. I played the game. The game is in no better shape than DayZ. Bugs and exploits and even hackers are EVERYWHERE. I was killed by someone aimbotting with a pistol from across the big city. Another time, i was killed by a hacker teleporting to me, killing a friend then vanishing and reappearing behind me. The devs have even admitted to wanting to use hacks to kill bandits (if the video was legit). The company is very unprofessional. I do believe the game has potential. But at the rate it's going, it will flop before it gets better. I won't lie though... I did have a little fun playing it. The environments were nice to explore and the flooded city was pretty cool.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bohemia get upset by this and mobilize their army of lawyers.

This sums up my entire impression of this game looking from the outside-in. The developers act unprofessional, giving me no faith that they're able to figure out how to get their act together and fix the game, or at least, fix a lot of the bugs to start moving towards a Beta release. If I was VC, I'd be demanding a change in leadership before giving them any or more of my money.

With that said, the graphics do look promising; makes me think of Dead Island honestly. But the developer does need to figure out how to behave like an actual developer instead of a mish-mash of random software coders trying to make a game that doesn't fail at the get-go.
 
It would be nice if you could have a PvE server. Would play the crap out of it.

IF you linked that to eGO you would be removed. Its against eGO's rules and policies to link or even tell others to do illegal downloads. You obviously do not understand the concept of telling people to download illegally on a gaming website. Because you ruin it for the rest.

As for saying people are negative nancys? Every game gets bad criticism. Get other it.

Quit the bickering before a leadership member comes and steps in.

WHAATT??? Lmao! What is wrong? How is that illegal. They have a completely legal site. And over 3000 members....

You ruin the word "respect". You obviously are underage or mad at life for some reason...LOL

Now you're stepping over lines that dont need to be cross at all. Calling someone underage as an insult isnt needed whatsoever, especially by an admin in our community.

This has nothing to do with bickering about this game at this point Nocturnal, you're insulting members of eGO, and you should probably stop before you get in trouble. Everyone is entitled to their view, just because everyone happens to be against yours doesn't mean you can insult them.
