LOTR in relation to WW1

Hey,

At first, a correction I made a typo and meant WW1 instead of WW2, the books were written in WW1 ^^
Since I sparked a 'duscussion' or shouting contest in another thread I will clarify myself:
Rohan: France/Belgium
Gondor: England
Mordor: Germany
Isengard: Italy
Elfs: The US

I know there are more parallels, just can't think of them right now Will be updated!

1st: stupid to open a new threat
2nd: TLotR was written from 1937 till 1949...so Tolkin wrote it in WW2
3rd: i dont think it should be based on anything...he mainly wrote it for his children because they loves "The Hobbit"

Tolkien wrote LOTR based on WWI. Remember, he was part of the Army during that time, even if he played a minor role in the war. He pretty much translated the chaos and fighting he saw in WWI into LOTR. He wrote it during 1937-1949, mostly to entertain though. There are other things that Tolkien was influenced by while he was writing it. The languages for example.. Tolkien based the elvish language on Swedish I believe, while some say that German is the language that Tolkien had in mind for the Orcs. There was a lot of things Tolkien was influenced by when he wrote the novel.

But looking at your analysis, can't say Isengard is Italy though, since they remained neutral throughout the war, even if they were part of the Triple Alliance. Don't get why England is Gondor when France was mostly on the defensive.
And elves? US? O.O

Yes, ofcourse it was written during WW2 but I mean he based his ideas on WW1... Why is it stupid to open a new threaD for a new topic to be discussed ...?
