Sorry it took so long to fix this as the cause of the crash did not have any direct relation to the crash itself, so it was difficult to track down."

But I've had the issue the past few days so that ain't so ...

It's been a problem with TF2 in general don't worry too much.

Kind of hard to not get peeved, since it is now interfering with my gaming experience on a daily basis & just out of the blue. And they don't seem to have a real grasp on the issue from what I can tell.

COOOOMMMMIIICCCCCCSAAANNNNSSSSSSSS

Also since last week my ping has been fluctuating between 50 and 1000, might be related.

Mines been crashing alot recently.. Windows still hasnt found a solution :P

The only time ive had it work is it reset my ethernet interface once (i forgot to ipconfig /release and /renew). Clippy was more helpful! lol

Seriously, has that thing EVER found a solution?

I think it did for me once upon a time...

I will say that the Microsoft Fixit program actually helped me a bit when I got my vista machine back up and running though. It wasn't updating at all, and after running the program once it noticed some file problems with the updater and d/led them and fixed said problem.

does your game crash when someone joins a server? I had this issue from november 16 to December 7th (a patch on the 16th broke my game and a patch on the 7th fixed it) where my game would crash when someone ELSE joined the server.

this was due to DXlevel8 issues however, but still, do you know any certain parameters of the condition your game crashes?

(maybe try playing with bots for a while? see if it crashes?)

E: also have you tried Verifying the game files and defragging?

What GTR said. Verify your steam cache files and try again. It usually fixes most hl2.exe problems.

I can not confirm that it's crashing when someone joins the server ( I'll have to pay more attention to that detail & see. As for parameters it just started last weekend after I did the Maual verification ( doubt that has any thing to do with any thing but). So times it crashes before I ever can play 1 game other times after 30 minutes or more of playing & then some times I can play for hours with out any issues.

Today I have been unable to play @ all on line due to the Hl2.exe crash, BUT I have no such crash if I play of line vs boots

If the Verifying & defragging was addressed to me, please explain about verifying the game files in a little more detail, As for defragging I'm using a SSD Drive so defragging is frowned upon

Care to expand on how that be done ? Never Mind I figured out the Verification & the defragging you all were talking about - DUH
Thanks

Odd indeed ...

Update from my end.
Was unable to play TF2 most of yesterday due to the hl2.exe crash, then last night I was able to get into a Mann vs. machine game. Then later my buddy came on line & I tried to join the "multiplayer game he was in & got the crash. Started TF2 again & did a join game on my buddy & was able to get in game & played for close to 2 hours with no crash before I logged off.
And have had no issues (fingers crossed ) today, nothing changed on my end so "Odd indeed

what firewall are you using? i used to have that problem on my old rig when i had an non windows firewall installed. went back to using windows built in firewall and it fixed it for me. also, the catalyst control center from amd has caused issues with my hl2.exe crashing in the past as well. just a thought.

Jinxed myself, got online later in the day & BAM, hl2.exe crash, was able to get into a Mann vs. Machine game though & then was able to get into a mulitpilayer game after that. So strange

Thanks for the reply. I use Windows firewall & Nvidia drivers and have since I started playing this game a little more then a month ago. The hl2.exe crash just started out of no where about a week ago. But no changes to my rig had been make (as in firewall, drivers ect). It's odd indeed ...
