Need help building my own Gaming PC.

So, after this cruddy (I should be able to cuss, dang it) PC has shown that it doesn't want me to play video games on it, I decided to build my own Gaming PC. So, I asked one of my friends to find all the parts for an affordable price and this is what he came up with:

You don't want to go through a Monitor for Audio. The more devices you run audio through, the more quality you lose.
 
Do you have a set sort of budget that you are running on? The motherboard you have is for an AMD processor, do you already one with that socket you can use? Also as Death mentioned that card you have selected is discontinued. And do you need to get a Hard Drive/SSD, or do you already have one?

maybe shop around with newegg and tiger direct i found 20-30 dollar differences on the sights while buying my card and ps!

Yes around $600 to $900. I'd prefer the ultimate price to be somewhere in the $700 price range.

Also, thanks for the advice DJ. But now I got to search for speakers again. :mad:
 
I'll work on this later tonight (and post it), but someone already mentioned you're missing a CPU. Don't know if you have a preference for AMD or Intel. I'm going to assume AMD because of your budget. You need speakers as you noted; and the OS you picked out is a bad idea. Why would you limit yourself to a 32-bit system and get 8 GB of memory? I'm guessing you got it as a cost cutting measure, but that will reduce your overall PC performance, and actually require you to change some of the stuff you buy (32 bit system will only recognize UP to 4 GB, and will only use about 3.5GB, the rest is parceled out for hardware usage, but you picked out 8GB DDR3 memory).

Well, as I said, my friend got me this list, so yeah. I really don't know THAT much about computer expect for maybe it's history and what the hardware does.

I might use Linux, though I've heard it's not great for video games, so I guess i'll go with a Windows 7 64-bit.
 
Alright, the build I put together includes pretty much everything except for the mouse and keyboard. Some people will recommend a sound card, I say they should be quiet. This being a value based build, a sound card doesn't make sense when the onboard sound will suffice. I splurged a lil bit, giving you a PSU that should be more than you require, but giving you room for future upgrades if you want. I don't usually make AMD builds, so this was based on reviews and some research.

That's a decent build considering the parameters (I'm sure you will sleep better know it has PNS' stamp of approval :thumbup1:) and I can say that 'cuz I just build basically the same rig a week & 1/2 ago for client with a "firm" budget. In fact the only differences in the 2 builds are, 650 PSU & full tower case (the later 2 obviously for Future growth - rebuilds.)

As for dropping the price more, I'd suggest buy what on sale now & putting the rest on price alert @ newegg

As to Nitendo Coke's repliy & 12:43pm - All I can do is shake my head
 
I'd really suggest considering a better keyboard. The low price may be appealing but trust me, if you spend a bit more you won't regret it. The CM STORM keyboards are really nice and solidly built (from personal experience) and I have heard that the Razer BlackWidow is also fairly good.
The lower cost one will do the job but certainly wont be a nice experience using it.

Razer DeathAdder ($43.99 + $4.99 S&H = $48.98 vs your choice at $59.99).

I hate that Logitech mouse for good reason; I used it and it's crap! Not as good as the MX501 in my opinion. I made the switch to a DeathAdder and been using it for over a year for MMO, RTS, and FPS games. Works perfectly fine for all of them.

This looks to have positive reviews, and it will be brand new versus the refurb. Second reason why I suggest a different one: Those logitech headsets break all too frequently. And a refurb at that price is an insult. This is a budget headset, so it's not perfect, but for the price. $14.99 + $2.99 S&H = $17.98 versus $54.99 refurb.

Keyboard you picked out looks fine to me for the budget. I got a MS Sidewinder X4 but they're out of stock at the moment (about $40). Very solid and good responsiveness to my typing and gaming.
