What's your favourite Map?

I have a few favorite maps, in no particular order.

1. cp_dustbowl. The map itself is okay (stage 2 is best), but I really love the people that play on our 24/7 Dustbowl server. <3 you guys.

2. pl_boundary_final. That map is just amazing. I love the snow and industrial style of it, and how the walkway goes along the outside of the building and just asdjfhasdkfh I love that map. I really wish it was an official map so that we could put it on the Payload server.

3. koth_harvest_final. Harvest is just a great map. I can do whatever I really feel like on that map and it works. I can demoknight, combat engy, and SCOOT. Scoot doesn't work on Dustbowl very well, tbh.

4. My favorite map is actually probably pl_badwater. Badwater is just a great map, imo. I really enjoy spy on that map (stabby brought me into that one, I think). I also love pyro and sniper on that map too. One of the only maps that I'll play sniper on.

5. pl_frontier_final. It's a good map, imo, and I really love the fact that the cart is a BLOODY TRAIN. It just makes everything better.

My favorite map in general is Blackmesa, I spent so much time on it while we had it on the server. It is the map I learned how to snipe on and where I learned 1 demo can stop an entire team from leaving their base.
My favorite Valve map is also Dustbowl. It's always a fun map to back to if you're ever getting bored, had lots of fun times playing on Dustbowl.

It's hard to pick just one, so I will pick from the game modes.

ARENA: Lumberyard
CTF: Turbine
CP: Yukon
CP (A/D): Mountain Lab
KOTH: Nucleus
PL: Frontier & Thunder Mountain (Tie)
PLR: Pipeline

I supposed my favorite is Upward but I really enjoy all the Payload maps. Frontier kind of irks me sometimes because people quit out on it more than the others. Dustbowl is probably second. That map is totally a blast on a loop.

Least favorite: 2Fort. 99% of the time it plays as a total derp-fest.

My favorite maps in no particular order:

Harvest: you can do anything on this map(except mantread)
High tower: anything works on this map(including mantreads)
Upward: so well balanced. The best map to play highlander on.
Foundry/grainary: two really well balanced 5cp maps
Egypt/thunder mountain: there are stupid broken things you can do sentry jumping.
Vitalism: the only CTF map I enjoy playing in hl. Really adds a lot of strategy into CTF, you have to hold the mid to cap the flag. No scout back caps.

My least favorite maps:

Dust bowl: I hate this map to such extent i will only play it if I have a gun to my head. Even then I think I would consider not playing this map. The balance is terribly in favor of red(the most of any I've played on), there are way to many choke points, and the game usually turns into a huge engi cluster....

Yukon: a 5cp map where engineers are required to run lv3 sentries full time!!!! Also so the worst last to push into: the attackers have to walk 2 kilometers in the open. A wrangled lv3 will wreck an entire team because there is nothing obstructing the sightlines.

Barn blits: no good defending spots for a lv3 sentry. Everything gets spammed out easily. The turn table needs oil or something. On the last point you have to push the cart through way too narrow of a choke point. I've seen the cart stuck there for 8+ minutes.

Viaduct: the entire map is a choke point

Lakeside: once you have the lake house you win. The large health pack keeps you alive and the doors are so hard to push through.

Edit: I am terrible at reading I thought this said favorite and least favorite maps

As a person who regularly plays Dustbowl, I find this quite funny.
First off, the First point on all rounds are usually easy to cap, and all choke points have their weaknesses (except one, so annoying), and after that you get an insane 15 mins or more to cap the second point. By that time, BLU has discovered the technology of the medic, and an uber pushes through. IMO, the map is almost completely in favor of BLU ( who have a rediculous spawn rate btw) if you have a good team.

I'm fine with this too.

I actually enjoy Thunder Mountain a good deal, but Upward and Badwater Basin are good for me too. I've been playing on Dustbowl so much though that it's grown on me.

your signature.... I stared at it for 10 mins.....

Blackmesa.

This is also why I love it. Breaking through choke points can be really rewarding. As can be stopping an offense in its tracks for 10-15 minutes.

My favourite map is BlackMesa, but I also like playing on 2fort and Harvest!

ctf_2fort!

I also like Dustbowl and Blackmesa but I like 2fort so much more I rarely play on them…

I do agree the first points got lost fairly easy. Now capping second is a pain. Ubering through a choke point works assuming the enemy doesn't have an uber or a pyro. If red does the smart thing and uber into blue forcing the blu pop, blu will gain no ground and still be losing their entire team to spam. If red doesn't have uber, pyro could take one for the team and air blast the uber back, blu will gain no ground. Both these are common high level tactics, but never seen in pubs.

The dust bowl chock points are notorious for being long and narrow. Narrow enough for a rocket splash to hit from wall to wall. Back in the days when I still mained scout I puged highlander on dustbowl. Neither team got the second point on the third map because we just sat our heavy, demo, pyro, and medic in the choke and was able to wreck anything that came through. Trying to push in from the low ground was helarious because the sentry was able to watch their entire approach and if they got close to getting up the pyro would just air blast them back down.

The first map wasnt terrible, because the choke isnt too long. It wasnt until we were able to kill the demo that was camping the right staircase that we were able to push out and cap. What i really disliked was that 1 demo was able to spam out a 4 person flank the combo was having to wait in the 1-way connector because they would be way outmatched in a push without the flank.

The second map is probably the only portion that took less than 10 minutes to push last(probably a slight overstatement, but it sure felt like it). The biggest problem was that to watch all the entrances to second you had to move 3 meters. Once the house was taken the point soon fell. 1 push on each side lasted almost an hour. I've played 3 round of swiftwater in that same amount of time and swiftwater is considered a hard map to push.

All your problems would be solved with another medic and a pyro on blue. Those aren't map problems, those are player problems.
