There is one particular player I suspect of using an aimbot program (not an eGO member).

I got curious about what software is available to someone so inclined.

One site is selling their aimbot program for $70 dollars.

It's funny that someone would pay $70 to cheat at a game that steam is selling for $5.

Edit: I won't say the name but it's not one of the regulars. It's a player with just a handful of sessions on eGO servers.

It really is that expensive? I thought cheating programs were between $10 and $20. Which is still pretty funny because it is more expensive than the game.

There are a bunch that I found but the $70 dollar one gives the member a lifetime subscription to their updates.

I guess each time there is a VAC update which detects the software, the devs update so it's undetected again.

I imagine the player would need to buy another copy of dod:s because of the VAC ban.

The whole thing is just bizarre to me because I like a challenge.

kip, you can always record the guy hacking and send to a adm, he will know what do to.

you can record the videos with fraps, hypercam(1,2,3) , ingame recording and many others.

I think as games age, people are more inclined to cheat at it. They are way behind the curve of those who have played for a while. Look at diablo 2 for instance, people who were far behind on items either buy items, or download bot programs to be considered comparable to those who invest their time into the game. First person shooters are no different.

VAC stays relatively current, but there are always those willing to risk it.

*Warning sarcasm detected in post, so not serious*

Its always amusing to see hackers. They are the types of people that try their hardest to find the program and then try to gloat that they are the best person at the video game. Of course i always pictured a hack as a fat slob with food everywhere and zits who talks with a lisp and snot coming out of there nose. (Guess the Reference).

No matter what though as stated above by Rabine the Post necromancer(just joking) find an admin who knows how to record because i have no idea how. Then let the fabulous demo FBI sit for hours while watching through someone else's eyes, because let's face it they have nothing better to do.

Eventually we will find them and bring them to great justice!

You really must feel sorry for the player who cheats, apart from being a low life he has no respect for himself, certainly none for the other player,s. No self control and obviously no ability to learn, he actually makes me feel good about myself as I push on against all odds to enjoy the game.

I knew the person had something fishy going on because they were shooting tons of players threw walls from really far away. Some of that software also allows wireframe so they can see the entire map. :O

It's so rare to see a hacker that it's really obvious when you do.

I've spectated a lot of the better players to learn and I've never seen anything fishy except for that one. I want to get better with the 98k so I spectate the guys who are really good with it like seth, companion cube, and eXmag. Never seen anything suspicious.

Btw, I've been playing in the eGO servers for awhile but I change my name all the time because I suck so bad (it's embarrassing). I might be getting better though because I killed Bruce Lee twice yesterday (a herculean feat for me).

And then suddenly Kip's KDR got 10x better.

Thats the one benefit to sucking, nobody accuses you of cheating. :blushing:

I would rather make a $15 donation to eGO and help keep the servers running than spend money cheating (better to earn your stats).

Anyway, so i just made my first donation. :)

Donated or got dedicated supporter? :o

I mean both are good, but DS is better! You get awesome perks.

I've seen many of these programs(available on many sites) and I've also seen their results when closing threads about steam accounts being hijacked and vac banned for "no reason" (apon being questioned, the usual reply is denial, but surprisingly there's a fair number of people who admit to digital embellishment). Sad when people try to supplicate their skills through artifice and sadder still when they pay a large price (some of those accounts were associated with lots of games) and lose their accounts because of it. Alas, reap, sew, etc...

I just clicked the donate button and donated $15. I have kids and money is tight but I'm happy just to support the organization. I hope these servers are around for a long time because dod:s is frigging addictive and I only play in eGO servers. :thumbup1:

My favorite is getting revenge on a really good player that dominated me. Preferably with a headshot. :chair:

This would not be nearly as rewarding if I was cheating. It's all about the challenge.

this is why ego servers are the best! ego and its admins work very hard to detect and ban hackers - ive been on servers where anything goes and the game gets ruined! thanks ego!

There are also scripts.. that people know how to add in the game files, to change the color of ALLIE and AXIS, Red or Blue. You can take out the fragment of walls and see through them. Which is un detectable by VAC unfortunately, I know the codes because I went to school for it. But I dont like the concept of cheating.. The challenge to me is the funnest part.

Lets see, I personally would cheat if i ever needed to, mostly with single player games like Mount&Blade, Fallout series, GTA etc. I guess you can say, it is just a means to an end. This habit was born out of playing older, more complicated games: such as the older Resident Evil games, where a single puzzle would keep me trying for days on end. As games got player friendly, and the gamplay got easier, it would be logical to assume that the need for cheating to reduce, but this is not true.

But alas, Dods, or even similar ones, is a game where the fun isn't in winning, not at all. The fun in these Multiplayer(MP) games is in the frustration, and the competitive gameplay found in any server. The rush to capture an intensely contested region/flag, the satisfaction of dominating a proven player, or even just knifing a devious and cheeky sniper or an MG.
In any given server, my only goal, playing-wise, is to maintain K/D ratio of above 1; but this is almost never true, as i always get 0.5< K/D< 0.8.
So I remain a bird chasing an ever elusive worm.

Reading this thread, i've learned that certain cheats/hacks do cost money, and i am saddened to learn so. I've always thought that cheats were free, such as those for single player games. To go all the way and pay so much for a relatively simple game is strong dedication, and not the good kind. Such money could be better spent buying a different game, taking a loved one to a date, or a charitable donation to help others.

I think everyone at one point uses an in-game engine cheat on a single player game when you've finished the game and want to mess around in the engine (endless ammo, anyone?), or when you've gotten stuck and just want to finish the dang game! I've done it once, on Doom?, when I got stuck in Hell (man, was that really ten years ago?). Single player ingame, unrestricted cheats are not what this conversation is about, imho. It's about the honor in multiplayer. It's about not changing the standard by which we all draw measure. Honor. Integrity. Sportsmanship. Just my opinion.
