Hello all! So I bought DOD this past weekend and I am pretty happy with my decision :thumbup1: I have hopped in all the Servers, and it seems like Strand and Kalt have kept my attention the most. I have not got to use all the different weapons(classes?) yet, but I seem to like the choice all the way to the left (support maybe?). I have only ever played CS, and this seems to be the easiest for me to use at this time.

Well, I am off to read more of the posts made in the DOD forums now. Tips appreciated concerning these two maps and take it easy on me when you see me on! :w00t:

Welcome to DoD. I look forward to seeing you on the servers. I personally play rifleman myself (the class to the far left) and would be more than glad to discuss any tips or help if you need.

Good luck, and see you around!

Class to the left is rifle class, Allies and Axis have different rifles. Main differences from CSS, Nades actually kill people (100+ damage to anyone nearby), nades explode in 5 secs, so you can prime them or kill yourself, prime rifle nades by shooting at the ground and hitting your use key (e by default), you can catch and throw enemy nades. You can sprint, very useful to avoid nades. Rifles are accurate with or without using iron sights. Rifles do not belong in the sewers of Kalt;). Try all classes. Get in vent for more tips.

Congrats and welcome Swayne
Since you got DODs recently, I recommend this thread made by Quaffer. It highlights the maps, and the common names used by players.

Kalt is pretty much straight forward, watch out for enemy incursions from the sewers, and try to have the wheelhouse. Support, and assault classes are preferred in both these locations[close quarters, so the high rate of fire is good!].
The bridge can be a death trap if there are many allied and axis players trying to get [which is pretty much everytime]

As for strand, boy this one can be hard. In a nutshell:
-if you're allies, you must get off the beach at any cost. Ideally, teamwork is a must[especially if axis are well-organized.]. Once off the beach, it is usually best/wise to take out Big Gun(BG) first because it is the easiest to defend for the axis.
-If you're axis, keep the allies on the beach as long as you can. This can be done by using an MG from proper areas, being a quick sniper[good quick-rifle skills are required], or any other method really. :)

*Sorry if i wrote too much or too many details :p

So far, good stuff.

I did notice that about the nades, but did not know about priming them. Such a useful tip!

I'll be sure to check out that thread by Quaffer. Thanks for the link!

Oh ya, ur gonna have a lot of fun playin DOD:s, especially in the ego servers, DL vent and join us in there

BTW, when you prime rifle nades, you get about 3 secs to throw it. Also, this takes a little practice, its really a quick one-two, shoot stright down then immediately hit your use key and the nade should be in your hand. Start out standing still, as you get better you can do it while moving.

Not too many people use it but right clicking with the support class will turn it in into a makeshift rifle. Pretty dope from far range kinda like taking 1 shot at a time with the AK

I can already see I am going to being killing myself a lot:O

I wanted to touch back on this post regarding tips and the fact you are a CS player. If you're familiar with AWPing in regards to "dragshotting" you'll notice a pretty smooth transition to playing the rifleman class. The only kicker, is that the iron-sights are practically useless on the rifles, so "scoping" per say, won't be the method to playing the most effective mobile rifleman - you'll need to strafe and drag your shots. The KAR98 is a standard bolt-action rifle and will generally be a 1 hit kill in the upper chest, head, sometimes even a leg. The garand will almost always take 2 shots (If the user is at full health). I would recommend on playing maps with large open spaces to better feel out the rifles, Kalt and Avalanche (both eGO supported) are fantastic maps for long and close range areas to practice the rifle fundamentals.
With that being said, try everything out. I personally love playing Rifle and Machine Gunner. There's nothing more fun than strafing snipers across the map with a kar, or proning next to a sandbag or crucial choke point to move the rest of your team up as you lay down hundreds of bullets.

41 calls waiting, some people waiting over 30 minutes.
