New Beta?

They are just making an update nothing drastic and they are adding some new maps.

i been playin if for a few hours now... its not that drastic but it'll probly make people that have honed their skills with certain weapons cringe cuz they gotta learn all over again.

imo what they did with all the automatic weapons minus the mg's was drastically needed. now you actually have to aim a lot more with the mp44 and thompson.

It's SOOO cool :D explosions & fire look better and the cam zooming in on your killer like in TF2 has been added. Also the assault classes have been upgraded and the M1 has less recoil.

Yea same here goofy. Has the accuracy on the thompson increased can anyone tell me? Personally I think it needs to be improved cause while prone your still very innacurate and just spraying and praying.

In the beta I can almost snipe with the STG44 again. It's not the same as old DoD, but a head shot at medium range is better than dieing. The Garand is 95% of where it should be. With the improved aim and reduced recoil I can kill in one or 2 shots from across all the maps most of the time. The Thompson is accurate up to about 7.5 to 10 meters. After that good luck and God be with you. The BAR and STG44 fall off at about 25-35 meters and you will need to be prone and still to one-shot anyone at or past that range. Even then I have not had great success, but I'm still learning to aim all over again.

The thing we all need to practice is aiming for the head with all weapons. Especially rifles (and pistols at close range).

Also we need to remember that all weapons in the game have NEVER had 100% realistic damage or accuracy. In the OLD betas of DoD it was a lot closer than it will be after this update, especially for fully automatic weapons. IRL, the Garand, BAR, and .30 MG all fired the same bullets. The Garand, BAR, and K98 were only used in WWII because both sides had massive piles of ammo for them. They could all shoot WAY past the average engagement range. The BAR and STG44 both based their designs on standard long rifles and were VERY accurate when in single shot mode and also had a 3 and 5 shot burst modes respectively. The Thompson shot .45 caliber rounds like the Colt pistols of the Old West. The MP40 shot .9mm rounds like most modern handguns. IRL, the Tommy Gun had a lot more recoil and less accuracy than the MP40 but did A LOT more damage.

In my opinion the Devs are doing a good job of keeping the game balanced and keeping it fun for players of ALL skill levels and realism desires to play. Personally, I am not that skilled, but I love realism and most of all teamwork. If you find yourself not doing well with your old best weapon in the beta then I suggest you look for a new way to help your team out. Adapt to the changes that are coming and everyone in (eGo) will gain form it.

Ill have to disagree there. The recoil on the 44 is a bit less so there is actually less aiming involved. Hold the crosshair down and you get the kill.
