PSA regarding 10-mans

Hey CS geeks,

I want to thank you guys for the constant support you have given the private 10 man scrim server and the enthusiasm you have shown over the past few months. Snooch and I want to see this continue down the road and hopefully turn into something great. However, lately there have been some problems and misconceptions centering around this competitive environment that I would like to address.

First, know that this server was offered out of the generosity of a fellow eGO member. Please start seeing it as a privilege to play on it rather than an expectation.

Secondly, these 10-man scrims are supported by eGO purely on the trust that we, as responsible members, abide by their policies set in place. What does this mean? It means we need to appreciate the fact that we can openly compete within the confines of this community and not scold that fact that it isn't a regular event.

Finally, these scrims are just that - opportunities to allow competitive play in Counter-Strike. Nothing more should come from these 10-mans except fun, competitiveness, and time spent with other members of our community. This server is not there to be home to eGO next best scrim team and it definitely isn't a place to offer players an opportunity to break eGO's code of conduct. Like I stated before, it's a place for members to go to relieve their competitive itch.

So I ask that the next time you play in the 10man scrim server, please treat it like any other eGO server. And please don't use the server as an opportunity to create competitive teams or leagues, it defeats the purpose of 10-mans all together.

Please pay special attention to that statement. You are not to use eGO as an avenue to recruit for your teams or other communities. Doing this could be cause for removal of your admin or the community.
 
Read and understood.
The server is indeed a privilege thus we should treat it as such.
I'd like to thank that particular eGO member for his generosity towards us as well as the scrim hosts who are always there to help us.
 
Read understood and I love the server it's such a great bonus to the community!

PS Don't just expect a host remember they are volunteers!
 
A few scrim pet peeves I have

1) Ventrillo Scrim rooms are labeled "FOR MATCHES ONLY" and are not a place to hang out with your buddies while playing Jail. Lets keep these rooms open for their intended purpose

2) Don't spam hosts and beg them to start a match. We are volunteers, and we do have a life outside eGO. If we can, we will host one. Now I know with me, it helps if you already got a group of willing players ready.

3) Scrims are where the good players shine. That being said, don't accuse a player of hacking. Some players spend hours and hours on one map knowing the ins and outs, and able to predict your every movement. They just have skill, not hax

4) If the scrim host says warm up in X server, that is not your cue to enter the scrim server because you know the password

5) if you have to leave early, get a replacement

6) download that map pack...please download it
 
Great Post fps! I can not stress enough that this is an "EXTRA" for our members. This server is in no way intended to spawn a competitive team or for us to scrim other clans/communities. This is just an outlet for our players to have fun while playing a little more competitively using teamwork that is hard to find when playing on teams of 20v20. I also can not stress enough the importance of representing yourself accordingly while participating in my server. If you change your name or remove your tag, it does not give you the right to degrade/put-down/troll/etc. while playing. We have not had any major problems and I do not anticipate any in the future. Our 10man hosts have been told to get rid of anyone who puts a damper on the fun in a heartbeat. I pay for this server on a 3-month basis. If for any reason I find out that members are abusing this privilege, I will pull the plug on the server. I don't want to come across as negative, I just want to make sure that it is clear that this server is SO not needed - it's mainly wanted.

Also, you do not need to sit in the Ventrilo scrim rooms "waiting for a scrim host." They were created for the sole purpose of using them when scrimming - including the lobby. If someone is going to host, they will ask you to move down and/or join the scrim room lobby. 9/10 when someone asks me to host a scrim I may say no if there is an eGO server that needs filling. That is my first priority as it should be for all of us. Also, do not expect a 10man to be hosted during any other eGO events or if announcements are posted by leadership to join a server.

I for one have enjoyed the 10 man scrims greatly, I would hate to see them go away.
 
Great post fps. I did have a question though. Someone mentioned to me that the match server should be treated the same as our "R" rated scrim room with some room for swearing. Is this true?

I want to keep the rated R material restricted to the rated R vent rooms. I don't want players getting the wrong impression and become confused that we allow it on the scrim server, but not any other server.

So to answer your question, keep it out of the server. Utilize the rated R rooms in vent if you feel the need to swear.
 
I'll be trying to scrim a lot more now that I have my new fps, constant 100+ fps :)
 
Why not put a pug mod on your server... then you don't need scrim hosts...
 
We aren't doing that so that the server does not get abused.... That way there is some form of supervision going on...

I thought servers were supposed to get used, I'm not sure how you can abuse one lol as for supervision just have sourcetv go on when a match starts
 
Read up to all of the previous posts and it should explain what we are talking about when we mention "abuse".
