With the Realism Campaign starting tomorrow, I just thought I would give everyone a little info. about the war in Europe and some events from the war in the Pacific in World War 2. You've probably already learned this in school but I'm going to write it anyways.

1941

April- Germany invades Greece and Yugoslavia.

June- Germany invades the Soviet Union.

December- U.S. declares war on Japan.

1942

August- Hitler orders attack on Stalingrad.

November- Allies land in North africa.

1943

Feb.- German troops surrender at Stalingrad.

May- Axis forces surrender in North Africa.

July- Allies invade Sicily.

September- Italy secretly surrenders to Allies.

1944

May- "Bloody Anzio" ends.

June- Allies invade Europe on D-Day. Occurs on June 6,1944.

July- Soviets first liberate death camps.

August- Allies liberate Paris.

December- Germans attack Allies in the Battle of the Bulge. Germans lose about 120,000 troops.

1945

March- Allies capture Iwo Jima.

April- Italians execute Mussolini; Hitler commits suicide, saying in his last words "I die with a happy heart aware of the immeasurable deeds of our soldiers at the front. I myself and my wife choose to die in order to escape the disgrace of... capitulation".

April 12- President Roosevelt dies from a stroke.

May- V-E Day (Victory in Europe Day) ends war in Europe.

August- U.S. drops atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

September- Japan surrenders.

TOTALS About 62-78 million people die in WW2, including 23 million Russians, about 7-8 million Germans and 420,00 Americans.

Nice Post Poo! Such a dark period in our history.. yet so fascinating to learn at the same time. I've watched the entire WW2 in HD marathon on history channel a couple times recently.

I just watched a documentary on WW2 called World War 2 from Space a few weeks ago and it was very interesting.

Just looked at a few snipits from this documentary on Youtube. Definately going to watch it when I get home from work. I haven't heard of this one. Looks amazing! Thanks!

No problem, Joker! I'm not sure when it's going to be on T.V. next, unless your watching it on your computer, then you don't have to worry about T.V.
