Need build for brother's PC

So my brother's motherboard in his laptop recently died, and he needs a new computer. We were just getting started on getting parts for his, but since his laptop is dead, we're going to jump the gun on it. My dad would like it relatively cheap to finish out. I'd say $600 is the minimal to go to finish, maybe $500.

Already have a case and a hard drive, as well as a graphics card. All that we need is motherboard, processor, RAM, psu, and a network card.

What are the make/model of the case, HD & GPU that you already have.
I assume this isn't a "gaming" rig correct, what will be it's main use in life?

Correct. I know he doesn't do anything too intensive, he does his gaming on Xbox. Case is a Coolermaster Elite 430, I haven't seen the HDD but I believe it's a 1TB WD, and Radeon HD 6850 w/ Zalman VF3000A.

You could probably find some cheaper RAM but that's what I found. You should probably get someone else to check this over though.

Edit: Yeah I don't think that RAM is compatible with that mobo.

If your brother isn't looking for intense gaming, I'd say a 500W PSU would work just fine.

Well, I'd like a 650W PSU. Corsair or Rosewill? And also to find some RAM for the motherboard, since Caps said that isn't compatible apparently.
