And FYI, sprinting makes you do everything faster, even reloading. It is very much designed to do exactly what it does.
 
i am along similar lines with desert....

you wouldnt be able to enforce this.

i do this but i didnt know it was 'quickscoping' its just the way i snipe? besides the you have to be assault sniping to even do this and you know how easy it is to kill snipers in open field after the first shot..

also regarding the assault class being more accurate and taking out snipers at a distance.

the beta is implementing the CoF from DOD classic where the assault has a LESS RANDOM cone of fire which means that the shots register within a more consistent area around your crosshair as opposed to the RIDICULOUS CoF it has in Source... seriously you dont have to aim.... it is Spray and Pray to Source

Like i said man. You can't just say well CAL allows this or CAL does not allow that. We are not CAL. We are here to bring mature fun servers that people can play on. Alot of people in the servers complain about quickscoping which is why i started this post in the first place and it appears that about half of the voters in the poll agreed that it should be considered an exploint because the scopes do not naturally open that quickly and you have to do a little trick in order to get them to. That is not natural and is the same as "doing a little trick" to get on top of a roof or building that you should not be able to get onto.
 
It is a skill, once mastered you have the ability to become a lethal sniper. I used it for a long time back when I used to snipe on Donner. Lots of room and lots of targets. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I never said just because CAL allows it, we should too. I said CAL is a very good outline to follow. I have never heard anyone complaining about quickscoping, you're the first for me. If quickscoping was such a problem in the servers, wouldn't council have already discussed it?

Most of the people that voted haven't posted their explanation as to why they made that choice, so I don't think that should really count. Like I said before, how would anyone enforce this? You really can't prove anyone's quickscoping.
 
can we just give the guy a break or do we all have to hang him i mean he asked a simple question why not give him a simple answer...

i use nades ends quick scoping
 
Well, he asked for our opinions and then went against them :P I never hear anyone say: 'Stupid quickscoper, exploiter!'... I literally never ever heard anyone complain about it.

You also say that they developers couldn't have meant for the scope to go up one way faster than another way. Why not? Ever heard of skills and discoveries? Hard work gets paid this way. This ensures a pro does indeed have a serious edge versus a n00b :)
 
Ive strolled down this path with council in the past. Quick scoping and scripting reload etc... would be indeed to hard to enforce. I totally understand the frustration but a well placed gernade usually puts things strait. I have learned to live with it and really if the game didnt frustrate me I dont think it would be as fun. IMO.

We did answer his question, his question was "What do you think? Do I have a point?"

Whether or not you like our opnion is another story, but we did in fact answer his question. Also, his question can't really be answered with a simple answer. It's not a "Yes/No" question, like the poll is. This is the whole point of a forum, to discuss things.
 
Exploits are unintended uses. Yes it's an exploit. Just like on a map where you can get to the top of buildings because of an unintended glitch in a map. It's only a cheat if the server makes it illegal. Server used to kick ppl for this all the time but I think it has fallen to the wayside and sadly become acceptable.
 
I agree with Zegz-I\G , i dont think someone should have an advantage .But if its aquired through skill, then it shouldn't be an issue.

It is acquired through skill, you can't just get good at it in a matter of seconds.. it takes time and practice.
 
I don't know guys, I have never head of quick scoping... I, however, have seen Desert Fox snipe, and I agree with his statement on saying "CAL rules is a very nice outline to follow" If CAL allows it, then I think it should be allowed.

...and Fry is right, and Desert makes a point.
 
Can someone please explain quick scoping? I've seen snipers sprint, scope, and kill me in 1 sec. It bugs the hell out of me, and doesn't seem right. It's a glitch. You might be able to master it, but it is, what it is. A glitch. So if everyone is for it, why don't we actually explain how its done.
