Have you ever wondered how exactly your Division came to be? Who started it? Who is responsible for promoting your crazy leadership members? To learn the answers to those questions, we have created this mini news series entitled, Origin of the Divisions. There are three installments which in their entirety will cover the beginnings of all of the current Divisions of eGO. In this first installment we will cover the Day of Defeat and Operation:X Divisions.

Day of Defeat - The First Division
Back in the golden age of 2006, JohnT and Artimus effectively began eGO with the Day of Defeat Division, by creating our website and starting up a single Avalanche server. After building a solid leadership team and setting up a few more servers, the newly formed Council handed the reins of the DoD Division to Slayr357 and FluffyTDestroyer, who continued to improve the Division. Currently, the DoD:S Division consistently boasts five top 100 servers including the top two ranked servers in the world.

Operation: X
In the not so distant age of 2009, Sixxgunn, TheBigHerm, USCG Hammer, with support from GardenGrove and DrunkenSailor from Council, created a Division modeled after the Insurgency Mod. As the first supported game not created by a major gaming producer, the eGO Insurgency servers thrived and held the highest rankings among all INS servers for an extended time. One year later, despite the decline of Insurgency Mod, the success of the Division with alternative games led to its renaming as the FPS:X Division.

FPS:X?s goal was to support more First Person Shooters as a testing ground to see if they could hold their own as a Division within eGO. Later on in 2011, FPS:X was rechristened as the Operation:X Division in order to reflect the Division's expansion into games of all genres. Today, the OP:X Division supports numerous games including, but not limited to, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Arma II, Starcraft II and World of Warcraft.

Keep a look out for the next installment of the series which will include the Counter-Strike, Call of Duty and Battlefield Divisions.

Your section on OP:X leaves out one person, and while Drunk and GG may have had something to do with it, they were not really involved in Insurgency. Most of the credit should go to another person. You may want to correct that.

They were the council representatives for getting the division off and onto its feet, so they were very much involved and responsible. I added the Division Leaders in as well for further clarification.

Nice job completely leaving out that Ins switched it's name to Mod before it was FPS:X

I'd actually like to hear some details about how DoD:s has grown... including but not limited to Realism, events and leadership influences.

My division isn't in part 2 or 1...well you should always save the best for last *cough hat division cough*

DoD:S as a whole, or DoD:S in terms of growth at eGO? With eGO, it started relatively slow. Picked up speed VERY quickly, moving from only Ava and Donner servers to picking up Kalt, Flash and Strand, as well as having the mutual merger with Kustom Kettle and their Orange Map server(s). The deletion of the Houses was when it really started to emerge as a sole Division, rather than a separation within itself, what with the DAM Busters, Rojos' Raiders, Sewer Rats, etc. It was really great seeing everything combine and blossom into what eGO is today, and what it still stands for after all these years. Creates a point of pride to be apart of an organization like that.

I think articles like this are helpful because they help new members know a little bit more about eGO's history.

Sewer RATZ HOUSE FTW!!!!
if you don't know what I'm referencing then your to new

I miss the old Insurgency days. Though can't say switching to CS:S and then to DOD:S hasn't been fun. I'm just waiting for Insurgency 2 though, but I highly doubt this computer would be able to handle it. But if it does, memories would soon sure to follow, a lot of them; past, present, and future.

last time i have played (DODs) we just formed S|R, i can not wait for this. eGO is still going strong and glad to be a member. keep it up everyone!
