Open beta starts tomorrow, Wednesday, in less than 23 hours.

This is a free to play online action RPG. Think Diablo. The last character wipe is happening now as they transition from closed to open open. There will likely still be tweaks to various skills, but you don't have to worry about losing your character.

Check out the website and sign up for the beta if you're interested.

This is By far, the best MMO I've ever played.

I was interested since some RPS and Reddit news items covered this.

I would definitely pick this up, especially if we support it.

So to those that have played it, how is it so far? Diablo 3 was a let down and this looks more akin to Diablo 2 which was the awesome.. but is there a running story to it? I loves the lore of games.

Path of Exile is a better sequel to Diablo II than Diablo III is.

PoE is a dark fantasy action RPG that looks and plays like Diablo, top down isometric view and a clickfest. But there are several things that set it apart.

There are 6 starting character classes that are based primarily on one of three stats (dexterity, intelligence, strength), or a hybrid of two stats. But that is just how you start. You can build that character into using any set of skills or items in the game.

There is no gold. Say what? The currency is items that are used for crafting, transmuting, identifying, or improving items you find and want to keep. Fairly useful currency actually.

In PoE you use flasks instead of potions. You don't carry around a stack of potions that you are constantly buying more of. You carry five flasks on your belt that can restore health, mana, and other special effects. These replenish automatically as you kill enemies.

The abilities you use come from skill gems that are socketed into gear. These can be removed. You can mix and match how you like. All gems that are socketed earn experience from killing enemies, regardless of what ability was used. There are other kinds of gems too, like support gems that when linked improve or change the way the ability behaves. This leads to some really cool possibilities.

The passive skill tree is HUGE! There are 1350 skills to chose from that add passive bonuses to your character. There are also notable and keystone passives that can really change how your character does things.

PoE is being developed by a small indie company in New Zealand. I'm a big fan of indie developers as they often bring new and unique ideas to market.

PoE is Free to Play! Entirely. The microtransactions they sell will not give you even a slight advantage. They are all cosmetic items or fluff actions.

The current state of the game is now open beta. Anyone can jump in now and there will not be another character wipe. I imagine they will use this time before official launch to continue to tune and polish the game, and add new features. but right now it looks great, is a lot of fun, and has really deep character development.

only played for one night..and got to level 20 o.o my gods..this game has me hooked, good story/graphics/everything well worth a look into :p besides its free whats there to lose?

+1 from me as well. May not be as well developed as Diablo 3, but that is why I like it. I did not want diablo version of world of warcraft. I want a Diablo II sequel which is what you get with POE.

+1 Thanks CYGANY this game is amazing this is the way that diablo 3 should be, if anyone has not given it a try DOOO ITTT its great and its free.

I got it downloaded are there guilds in the game?

Fraid not. But you can add people to your friends list. Hop down to the Path of Exile channel near the bottom of Vent and find out who is who in the game. Not sure if you can add friends that are offline.

There are no guilds in PoE just like D2. Instead there are public towns and private areas outside those towns that people can't join unless they are in your party.

So been playing this for a few days and love it, the witch is favorite by far. I liked it enough that I wanted to support it and went to buy some cosmetics for my character, and that's where it all went bad... Why oh why do the do "points" instead of a dollar amount, not to mention I believe 95% of the stuff is way overpriced, but that's besides the point. I can't be the only one who thinks like this? Its the same for planet side, guild wars 2 and now path of exile. I know its f2p and have limited room to complain, but is it wrong to complain when I want to give them my money but not for points and not for a hat that's $7?

With a game as good as this end it being hurt by this do you think?

Are any of you guys still playing this? I just started this past weekend and would like to get a semi-regular grind/loot group together if possible.

Im thinking about downloading it. But the required specs might put my computer to the max.
