Mini Sentries

Hello all,

I, am a freshly registered eGO member, and for my first thread, I'd like to talk about Mini Sentries.

I am positive that there have already been posts about this, and if not, their should have been.

I'm a regular player on the 24/7 Harvest server (1 to 2 hours a day), and am noticing the increased infuriation of players at one of the teams because they have 3 or 4 engineers, all placing Mini's down, and making the game impossible to play

Just today, there was a player on from the Prestige Gaming group who came on, told everyone about the Prestige Gaming Harvest server, which had banned mini sentries, and 4 people said ok, "I'm going there", and disconnected.

Where I'm going with this is that we need to not necessarily ban mini sentries, but find a way to limit them, say only allowing 1 mini sentry engineer per team (there are plugins that I'm sure can manage this), or banning them altogether.

I dont think class restrictions are the matter to be quite honest.

Yes, mini-sentries are a pain in the ass. Being a Harvest addict myself, I am QUITE aware of their annoyance.

HOWEVER, they can be easily countered. There are a myriad of weapons which can take them out quite easily.

Direct Hit
Sticky Bombs
Loch and Load
Sapper, etc.

At the end of the day, it's just something else you have to deal with.

Class restrictions are beyond asking for. Mini-sentries are NOT that big of a deal. Simply switch to Soldier/Demo/Spy, get rid of them. It isn't like the pose a huge threat.


Just as Revo said, It is something you have to deal with. Just like random critical hits.

First off, welcome to eGO!

Secondly, nobody likes being on the opposite team of a good mini sentry engineer, but there are plenty of ways to counter them (my favorite methods are sniping and loch n load pills)

My only complaint about the mini sentry is the 5 gameME points you get for every one of them you spam onto the ground... Not that I ever pay attention to gameME...

One shot from a sniper, any sapper (most GS engies wont bother removing the sapper), 2 sticky bombs, one rocket.... pretty much anything really. demoknights can kill them fast too. wrangles minis on the other hand, there is a bunch of OPed right there.

As you can see, the minis did almost no damage. It's the engineer you need to be scared of.

God I miss killing you all with my mini sentry. 4 months to go hopefully till I get to do so again and fight off spys in the thick of it.

Mini sentries are something you have to deal with. Sorta like xXxMLG_Pr0_bodyshotting_machinaxXx snipers. I stumbled upon the pg server once and proceed to get myself banned by calling the entire admin team... well unspeakable things. As an engi main here are a few tips: use range advantage, kill the engineer first; mini later(if you can learn to do this you will no longer have troubles with minis), understand sightlines and pick the engi as he strays away from his minis help. A good engineer will average 130 -150 dps with their shotgun, the mini can only do 48. Now I know this stuff, I also know how to counter it. So if you see me on pubs stear clear and know I always have a mini trap waiting for you.

If we want to go as far as that, why not remove crits and spread? Actually have a comp server? I heard we had one before, but it wasn't popular SOMEHOW.
