Mouse lag?

I have a Logitech MX518 mouse, and I have mouse lag when I play games like Counter-Strike: Source and TF2. There's a very slight delay from when I move the mouse on my mousepad (steelseries QcK) to when my actions appear on the screen. The "raw input" option doesn't make any difference.

This mouse delay issue doesn't occur when performing other actions on the computer, only when I'm playing a Source engine game. Or maybe it's only noticeable when playing a game.

Specs that probably matter:
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Mousepad: steelseries QcK
OS: Ubuntu 12.10 x64

Specs that probably don't matter:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

Is the mouse wireless? If it is it often has much slower input times. Make sure all of the mouse's drivers are updated and try to increase the mouse's sensitivity. Also restart the computer if you haven't already.

Try turning off vertical sync in both your game's video options, and your GPU's driver settings.

There are other ways to turn off mouse acceleration and the like, but this is the first and best thing to try for most games.

Vsync wasn't enabled. I have a wired mouse.

My question is: How long have you had that mouse? They don't even make the MX518 anymore. Granted, it was, IS, a great mouse when it came out. But that's getting close to the decade mark. If you had a mouse that old (8 yrs), I'm gonna guess it's just dying on you. And getting a replacement isn't easy and cheap. (Amazon price: $100 new).

This is coming from a former multiple MX518 owner (it's still one of my favorite mice I've ever used)
